3 mike - even when local market is listless, there are stocks that will be played. Good example is PW yesterday (spotted it but didn't go in because of a few reasons - probably you have read my postings). So there is still opportunity for quick and short term trading.

# mike - that's the problem with people who are still new in the market. Hoping to make fast money, feels excited when see others talking so excitedly about a stock and just jumps in without hesitation. As I always say, one can afford not to make 3 K, but can he afford to lose even 1 K ?

# rchi - yes the Dow has rebounded sharply but on the other hand, the U.S. jobless rate fell to 7%, showing improvement in the labor market, fueling concern the Fed in the coming meeting will reduce its #85 billion in monthly bond purchases. Hopefully the tapering issue has already been factored in.

# just to add on to scjm3's posting (by the way good morning kawan). When Hexza was at between 76 to 78 sen (before ex-date) everyone was talking about the dividend (5 sen gross and 4 sen net), not knowing probably some people were disposing at around this price (which were holding as most people are picking up the shares in view of the dividend payable). But when you think of it, the price will adjust accordingly on ex-date and in reality you are not actually getting the 4 or 5 sen. Of course if the price goes up after ex, it's a different issue. If one thinks further, buying because of the dividend (probably the price has already gone up after factoring this into the equation) may not be the right. Actually the dividend is net after tax but the adjusted price is based on gross. So in this case it's a case of a cheaper entry price (now 66 sen against the ex-price of 72 sen I guess) after ex. However this is just an example and may not apply to other counters. Thus ultimately it still has to depend on one's individual approach and investment strategy based on experience. I agree with scjm3's view that it's a good buy at this price and also to average when it dips further (but this only holds for fundamentally sound counters, for speculative losing money stocks better stick to "don't catch a falling knife").

$ chengyee - as to how I pick my stocks, you can refer to my earlier posting (quite a long story). The objective is simple - buy before the others do exit timely (easier said than done). I may not profit much but the risk is very minimal.

# hiddengem - thanks for the news on DJIA. However do also not that the KLSE also closed at an all time high, Our market is not so matured as that of the US and thus in some way cannot be comparable.

There were a lot of rotational play amongst the low liners and everyone got excited over the euphoria but when it died down id the past few days (despite the index slowly creeping higher and higher), the market became quiet. Of course they are still stocks for trading (like PW and Infotech) which saw their prices rising.

I would still think there would be a correction (possibly not a sahrp one) will occur before it moves up again (just my opinion).

If the low liners start moving again, I would advocate going for those with fundamentals to minimize one's risks unless once is very certain of the price movements (based on TA). And this must be quick trades to avoid being caught.

# Sky - on the riddle again. After spending a bit of time last night to try to further going into the process of elimination, I could not proceed
further. Either I couldn't do or it' just merely a riddle / teaser.

But there are a few things we can deduce (see the 8 scenarios - S8 is impossible since there are only 2 black and S4 is not possible otherwise C will come out with the answer)
(a) from the eyes of C (who can see the other two), it is a known fact that he is not sure what color of the hat he is wearing and both B and A are certain of that.
(b) thus when it comes to B and A, neither can assume that just because the other party does not say out first, the person can assume that the answer is white.
(c) of course based on the combination of 2 black and 3 white, if one can see that the other 2 is wearing black, he can be 100% sure that he is wearing white.
(d) if you ask me, my final opinion is that all three of them are not sure what color are their wearing.
(e) however the question is put in such a way that if anyone (can be A, B or C)comes out with the correct answer, he must be certain the the other two are wearing black.
(f) final verdict - B and A know that one of them is wearing white and the other black or both are wearing white.

1) since C can see the other two, of course one would expect hoe to answer first but de did not which means A knows that he or B or both must be wearing white.
2) the fact that since B did not answer does not mean that that he (A) is wearing white as there are a few other scenarios.
3) thus A is also playing a guessing game also.

I reckon if we continue the elimination process, the remaining scenario would surface (though not 100% sure) but it will take some time to crack the head.
