Optimus7, u just wanted to lock in profit and do not care that it may continue going up? Or u sold because u strongly believe that it is going to come down heavily next week?

??????? If having rm100 million cash is no big deal, then what amount of cas is a big deal to u, wilkinsonyeo? Please point out to us which r the companies that have more cash than skp, other than the heavy weights such as sime darby, maybank, telekom etc.

Wow! Warrant can hit 16 sen? Izhammm, can u explain to me how u arrived at that figure? If it comes true, i will gladly buy u lunch. :)

Does anybody have any comment about how skp-wa will perform next week? Should we be worried at the way it fell to 21.5 after hitting 24.5 today? Buy on dips? Time to sell?

Cweed, look closer at the announcemrnt. The 52 million shares were done on a married deal. But that is not to say skp will not go up.

Rights issue price and warrant exercise price not fixed yet but should be 20 sen, unless company wants to raise more money, in which it will have to push up the share price. If they maintain it at current level, it could be that the share price will be pushed only after it goes ex-rights or after rights issue is completed, just like the case of Ideal Sun City (0081).

Quek is getting Alam shares at 1.35. At last transacted price of 1.65, he already has 20% profit. It would have been better for the market if he had gotten the shares at 1.65. Then, there would be greater likelihood of the share price soaring. Quek's entry into Scomi Energy did not see uts share price going up after the dust settled on the news.

Stocktangerin, the adjusted price of 20 sen set by bursa takes into account the warrants. Bursa assumes they r exercised for purpose of computation. To bursa, free warrants r a benefit to shareholders like a dividend and the share price must be adjusted for this so called benefit. So, it is (80 + (4 x 10) + (2 x 10)) ÷ (1 + 4 + 2) = 20.

Is anybody aware that Ideal has a profit guarantee of RM5.2 million for 2014. Based on the enlarged share capital after the rights issue, that means earnings per share of 4.4 sen. At a PE ratio of 10 times, the share price would be 44 sen!

As UBB which is related to Ideal will be diversifying to property development, Ideal should benefit as UBB will hire its services. The only question is how much business can UBB give Ideal? In other words, how big is UBB's property development business going to be?

There is no need to worry about what is happening in Ukraine. USA is looking to a diplomatic solution. The Americans only go to war against small nations. They did not do anything when the Russians took the Baltic nations and eastern Poland, and reclaimed Ukraine way back. So, the Americans won't do anything this time either. The Russians only want Crimea and not the whole of Ukraine.

And what is meant by 'the major shareholders are more concerned with creating value than the share price'? If value is created, the market would recognise this and thus recognition would be reflected in the share price.

?????? If management is only concerned about paying less tax, then why report the fabtastic earnings in earlier quarters? And doesn't lower profit also mean lower shaee price, which can't be good for the controlling shareholders? So, what kind of logic is it to say that management deliberately pushed down the recent quarter's result?
2014-02-28 02:04 | Report Abuse
Of course, it is better for controlling shareholder to privatise a company that is very profitable and has very high net assets value. Maybe someone should tell PNB to privatise Sime Darby and likewise for the many such gem counters. But if all these companies r privatised, what sort of stock market would we have then? Why bother to get listed in the first place then? Or does it mean the controlling shareholder did not expect the company to be so successful, which is a bad reflection on the controlling shareholder?
It being better for controlling shareholder to privatise does not by itself quite cut it.

After hitting 67 sen on 18 feb, it has been drifting down until 53 sen today. It looks like an infication tgat 31 dec quarter results (which has to be announced by 28 feb, being the last day) will not be good. I hope i am wrong.

Also, even if the provision for deferred tax was not made, earnings per share would still be less than rm0.01. The disappointing performance is not just about provisions.

So, institutions r collecting and privatisation offer is coming soon. But privatisation will not go through because of large institutional holdings. Why bother with making the offer then?
Reading what Hong Leong Research says, the next quarter is expected to be just as poor.
2014-02-27 12:01 | Report Abuse
And what is all this trying to explain away the provision as an indication of privatisation? Time to face reality.

Why not just look at the financial statements to see whether it is profitable instead ofrelying on dividend payments? In this day and age, a public company cannot 'claim' to be making profit when they have to disclose their financial results. Or r u disputing the auditors' integrity, miketyu?

I just saw at bursamalaysia.com that two substantial shareholders sold quite a number of shares on 7 February. Chan Wah Kiang sold 500,000 shares and Theng Book sold 1,020,000 shares. What do u make of this, madiba? The selling is not on the same scale as the disposal by substantial shareholders as in the case of instacom. But how do we know the selling by substantial shareholders of mpay has stopped? How do we know it is not just starting? Why r they selling if mpay is favourite to get the contract?

By right, instead of as a capital repayment, the 61 sen should be given as a dividend so that there is no capital reduction and consolidation. There is no need for a capital reduction and consolidation. In fact, with this capital reduction and consolidation, it is better that the company does not make the capital repayment. This is so detrimental to minority shareholders.

Khoo JenLeb, your effective cost would be (68 - 61) x 100 ÷ 1.5. The 1.5 is because of the free 0.5 share given for every one share.

People who bought above 62.5 sen are in a bad position. At 62.5 sen, after capital repayment, capital consolidation and the free shares given by new owners, the effective cost per rm1 par value share is rm1. Everybody who bought above 62.5 sen just like me will have an incredibly high cost. :(

Hello fighter88, please read what i wrote properly. U asked me whether i know how to read balance sheets. Well, now i ask u whether u know how to read whole sentences and paragraphs. I said it will drop to 0.5 sen if no new business is found and the final payment of 61 sen is made, after which bursa will immediately de-list it. It will drop to 0.5 sen if it is going to be de-listed. The company is trying to find a new business. If it cannot find one, it will pay the remaining cash to shareholders and then get de-listed. And it is by no means certain that the company can get the new business.

GWP will not be de-listed only if it finds a new business. And that is the million ringgit quetion: is it looking for a new business?
2013-12-17 22:26 | Report Abuse
If u still hold shares in GWP after de-listing, they are effectively worth nothing as the company has paid out all its money. The balance sheet is zero.

Scientex did not buy the company. It bought the plastic business. That is why it is a PN17 company now. And that is why it has so much money to return to shareholders. After paying the last tranche of the money from the sale of the plastic industry, it will be de-listed. And when bursa gives notice of de-listing, it will drop to 0.5 sen.

Could the price be being driven down so that a low rights issue price can be fixed? Or is mbsb expected to see a big drop in profit for the financial year ending 31 dec 2014?

Mbsb's freefall from sround 2.80 to 2.59 today is baffling and eorrying, especially when its earnings per share has already hit 30 sen. I know there r new guidelines by bank negara restricting personal loans and that mbsb is doing a rights issue, but the 30-sen drop is strange.
