BINTAI Kinden Corp Bhd (Bintai; Code: 6998) shares dropped to a low of 17 sen on Nov 9 last year, the worst level in more than seven years, on extended correction process due to persistent selling pressure.

Thereafter, in the wake of light bargain-hunting interest, this counter turned sideways briefly, undergoing consolidation before a fresh bout of buying emerged unexpectedly to drive prices higher.

Bintai mended to a seven-month high of 25 sen during intra-day session, backed by heavy turnover.

Based on the daily chart, this stock appears on a new leg of uptrend and despite the recent gains, there is still room for more scaling going forward, as trading volumes are clearly expanding positively lately, suggesting the underlying tone is picking up steam.

The sightings of multiple “golden crossings” of the moving averages on the screen, added to our optimism.

Elsewhere, the oscillator per cent K climbed over the oscillator per cent D of the daily slow-stochastic momentum to trigger a short-term buy at the 66% level yesterday.

Also on the upward momentum, the 14-day relative strength index gained from a reading of 46 on Dec 20 last year to settle the week at the 94 points level yesterday.

In addition, the moving average convergence/divergence histogram continued to scale in tandem with the daily signal line and returned to the positive side to keep the bullish note. It had issued a buy call on Nov 24, last year.

Technically, indicators are painting a pretty promising landscape, implying Bintai shares are likely to attract follow-through buying interest in the short-term, thus sending the bulls to a higher ground.

The immediate target is anticipated at the 30 sen mark. The next upper strong hurdle is expected at 45 sen, followed by the 50 sen psychological barrier and a decisive breakout of the stiff resistance of 57 sen will see the bulls becoming more aggressive.

As for the downside, intial support is seen at 21 sen and the rising 21-day simple moving average of 20 sen mark will act as the trailing stop-loss exit. – By K.M. Lee
