Seriously the world should stop rely on the number of COVID-19 infected reports, they should just simply compare the trend of death rate, a lot countries are incapable to test and trace appropriately for COVID cases, a lot of death are simply concluded without post mortem, and the long term damage from COVID is proven and no sufficient data findings yet.
And yes vaccine is fighting it, but it needs time as everyone in the earth needs it.
