Daya to raise RM950mil
It plans to buy two offshore sub-sea construction vessels

PETALING JAYA: Daya Materials Bhd is planning a RM950mil fund-raising exercise to pay for the purchase of two offshore sub-sea construction vessels (OSCVs), Siem Daya 1 and 2 (SD1 and SD2), according to Kenanga Research.
“Daya revealed that it is working on a very large fund-raising exercise comprising a 15% private placement, rights with warrants issuance, convertible bonds and senior debt financing worth a cumulative RM950mil,” it said in a research note following a meeting with the company.
ItsaidtheOSCVscostUS$140mil(RM460mil) each.
“Daya reiterates savings of US$15,000 (RM50,100) per day per vessel under an ownership model versus the current lease model.
Post the corporate exercise and acquisition, net gearing is expected to rise to less than two times (from the current 0.3 times), but management is comfortable with this level given the cash-flow backing assets.”
Kenanga also noted that Daya had incurred US$9mil (RM30mil) in cost overruns during its fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2013, “attributable to human error” in capturing costs for its Tapis enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project.
“Management acknowledged the weakness in internal controls and has since refocused attention on budgeting and cost controls.
With the Tapis EOR project at 96% completion as at end-December 2013, no more cost overruns are expected in 2014.” Kenanga said.
“On this front, a subsidiary-level management reorganisation exercise has been initiated with a new chief executive officer, chief financial officer and legal counsel now leading its subsea business.”
Daya reported a net loss of RM15.58mil for the fourth quarter of 2013, compared with a net profit of RM5.18mil in the previous corresponding period.
Revenue, however, increasedtoRM139.96mil from RM98.31mil previously.
Kenanga said due to its fund-raising exercise and cost overruns, Daya is expected to remain in the red in the first quarter of its current financial year.

KUALA LUMPUR: Iris Corp Bhd has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China’s CPC Handan Municipal Committee for an agro-economy integrated farming prototype in Handan, China.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Iris said the MoU was for the replication and implementation of the Rimbunan Kaseh project.
The MOU will be for a period of six months from the date of execution and shall expire automatically subject to parties entering into an extension or entering into a definitive agreement for the project whichever the sooner.

CT. still looking/reading chart at this hour. think you've make enough the past 6/7weeks. time to take it easy for the next 3/5 weeks and wait for the dust to settle down before entering.in most of the forum; people asking whether to cut losses or not coming monday. is bursa that bad? I don't think so,likely most retailers/investors very over bought oneself thinking can make easy money and have forgotten that they had excess their credit limit. their gain for the past month being wipeout and own losses accumulated. look see look see first next week, hope klci can break above 1842 and march towards 1850.CT, my view only and good luck to you.

lollipopz-I am not dare to make any prediction on IRIS. Chart is telling me not to go in for the time being. Indicators are not good. Might retrace to 61.8% which is around 0.48.

stocks: Pausing after strong session

U.S. markets are sitting near record-setting levels, but investors seem reluctant to push on into uncharted territory.
U.S. stock futures were edging lower Tuesday morning ahead of the opening bell.

U.S. stocks made big gains Monday, and the S&P 500 surged to a record high before pulling back slightly. The Dow Jones industrial average added just over 105 points and the Nasdaq also closed higher.
"The fact yesterday that we pulled back from the highs, probably indicates that the market has to build a base around these higher levels before we can see any more movement to the upside," said Peter Cardillo, chief market strategist at Rockwell Global Capital. "The market will have to continue to trade around these present levels."
Looking ahead to Tuesday, investors will get to review new home price data from the Case-Shiller index at 9 a.m. ET and the Conference Board will release its monthly consumer confidence measure at 10 a.m. ET.

In corporate news, Macy's (M, Fortune 500) will release earnings before the open. T-Mobile (TMUS) shares dropped because of the telecom's widening quarterly loss, despite strong revenue and the addition of more customers.
Home Depot (HD, Fortune 500) shares gained after the retailer said that a recovering housing market drove an increase in quarterly sales.
Shares in BlackBerry (BBRY) could also get a lift when the opening bell rings. There is a report that the company's technology could be used in Ford (F, Fortune 500) cars to connect vehicles to drivers' smartphones.
The firearms company Sturm Ruger (RGR) is set to report results after the close.

Solar City (SCTY) shares slid after the closing bell Monday when the company postponed its earnings results until March 3, citing "accounting related to recent acquisitions." It was slated to report Tuesday evening.
Investors are also looking ahead to testimony from Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen on Thursday. Yellen told lawmakers earlier this month that the Fed will continue to taper its bond buying program this year, but she stressed the need to keep interest rates low for a long time.
