To claim that MUI Prop has 40.7% stake in Nex Metals Explorations Ltd is a very misleading statement.

Back in 2011, the property development arm of MUI Group, under the watch of Khoo Senior, granted Nex Metals a loan in the form of a secured convertible note amounting to A$1.5 million (RM4.28 million) with interest payable at 10% per annum, to kick off its first gold exploration venture.

The rationale behind issuing a secured convertible note and not an actual loan was to give MUI Properties the option to convert the note into shares when the time was right. It was also less risky than acquiring a stake in Nex Metals at the time as gold prices were volatile.

“We have been receiving interest payments over the last eight years and have decided now that we want a more vested interest in Nex Metals. So, we are converting the note into 40% equity interest in the company,” Andrew tells The Edge in an interview.

He says it is an opportune time to take up an associate stake in Nex Metals because the price of gold has been rising steadily in the past 12 months.

Loan since 9 yrs ago and only manage to service the interest, do they have the money to make full payment now? I guess, when they took the loan, they have agreed in principal to the conversion. Lets wait n see, to early to say the deal didn't go thru

KUALA TERENGGANU (Sept 2): The Terengganu government hopes that the main contractor for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, China Communications Construction Ltd (CCC), will reconsider the terms of contract award to local companies.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said this was to ensure that the local companies could compete and participate in the ECRL project in the state.

He said that although 40% of the allocation of RM7 billion worth of total contracts in Terengganu was provided for local companies, he was concerned that no company would be eligible for the ECRL project contracts due to overly strict conditions.

"The CCC needs to consider the locality aspect because for the companies in Terengganu... this is their homeland, they are here but the implementation of the project is done by outsiders. Of course, they (the local companies) are not satisfied,” he added.

He said this after attending the signing ceremony of the consortium formation agreement between Ahmad Zaki Sdn Bhd and GPQ Sdn Bhd, MMC Engineering Sdn Bhd, and P-Excell Management Sdn Bhd for the ECRL project.

"At the same time, CCC must also try to understand about the situation in Malaysia, the involvement of the companies (local) is not only to make profit but the job would provide a good learning experience for them," Ahmad Samsuri said.

He said he was aware of the stringent conditions set by the CCC, but the company is also urged to understand the aspects of locality, constraints and difficulties, among others, faced by local companies to meet those conditions.

NEW YORK, Aug. 26 -- The U.S. dollar fell modestly in late trading on Wednesday as market participants awaited a key speech from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.01 percent at 93.0048.

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1815 U.S. dollars from 1.1835 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3190 dollars from 1.3146 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar was up to 0.7226 U.S. dollar from 0.7195 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 106.01 Japanese yen, lower than 106.32 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.9086 Swiss franc from 0.9077 Swiss franc, and it was down to 1.3153 Canadian dollars from 1.3183 Canadian dollars.

Gold prices dipped Monday as optimism over U.S. authorization of a blood plasma treatment for Covid-19 and a relatively firm dollar weighed on safe-haven appetite.

But declines in the yellow metal were capped by concerns that Federal Reserve Chairman Jay Powell will present on Thursday a dour assessment of the U.S. economy at the central bank’s annual Monetary Policy Framework Review amid the coronavirus pandemic. Powell — who will be speaking from home instead of Fed’s typical Jackson Hole, Wyoming, venue for the speech — is expected to make the case for stronger monetary stimulus to help the economy — a dynamic that would clearly weaken the dollar and boost gold.

Metalicity Limited (ASX: MCT) (“MCT” or “Company”) is pleased to announce the return of first assays from the Phase Two Drilling Programme at the Kookynie Gold Project2 in the Eastern Goldfields, Western Australia, approximately 60 kilometres south southwest of Leonora.
The Company has received assays for the first 16 holes of the expanded drilling programme currently underway at the Kookynie Gold Project. So far, the drilling has confirmed significant and extensive high grade, near surface gold mineralisation at the Leipold Prospect that not only continues to the southern strike extents, but down dip as well. There are 24 drill holes remaining at the laboratory pending analysis, which is due in late August with further samples being dispatched periodically, with drilling still underway at the Kookynie Gold Project.
Commenting on the drilling results, Metalicity Managing Director, Jason Livingstone said:
“It is incredibly pleasing to have extended the mineralisation at Leipold along strike and down dip with the return of the initial holes. It is apparent that the Leipold mineralisation extends a considerable distance, some 250 metres south, past our previous drilling, and I look forward to receiving the balance of the assays and the results from our current drilling which is underway.”
The full announcement is available on the Company’s website or on the link below:

Metalicity (MCT) has completed the majority of its 5000-metre drill program at the Kookynie Gold Project in Western Australia.

So far, the company has completed almost 2900 metres of exploration across 40 holes at the site, focusing on the Leipold Prospect.

The phase two program is following up on compelling previous results from the prospect, which included 16.3 grams per tonne of gold across four metres. That notable assay included a higher-grade internal result at 20.7 grams per tonne of gold across three metres.

While the program’s expected length is 5000 metres, the company has not ruled out expanding it further as results and magnetic data begin to roll in. Through the program, the company hopes to convert the site’s previously identified exploration target into a JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate.

Cores from the drilling to date have been sent for analysis, and initial results are expected around August 17.
