With Tony, if demand is weak, drop prices sharply to create demand. Just like AirAsia fares. Something all businesses can learn from. :)

I suspect Sapnrg may not announce its ( what is probably horrible ) results until next year just like FGV did before. So better off just selling off Sapnrg and go trade other stocks. Besides, looks like the global economy is going to get worse.

Hahaha... Let's see. These guys accumulate shares at around RM1.30. Then make offer of 1.75. But on re-listing it goes to over 1.60. People get excited and buy at 1.60+. Big boss laughs and sells his accumulated shares for a handsome profit of 30sen per share and he will give us about 10-15 sen/share from this 30 sen! Win-win or is it? As pointed out by Chongyo above, the business is worth more than RM5/share! How long will we have to wait, boss?

Once EPF exits, they are not going to return. Syndicates and others can only take it so far (play for quick profit). Then the stock will fall again. Beware.

Let's see. 6 bil shares. So each share entitles you ~RM2.50 of the debt and profits, if any.

Going the same way as FGV when EPF sold out due to poor corporate governance issues (and losses of course). MAS (now MAB), Proton, etc went the same way...down,down,down...MAS was delisted at ~ 20sen (once RM8 counter). Proton was once RM16. Many, many more examples if you look.

Profit much higher than revenue. Please explain.

As noted by another investor, their profits are way higher than their revenue. How?

The current price of 60-70 per barrel is due to propping up by OPEC and non-OPEC (incl Malaysia) by agreed production cutbacks. With no cutbacks, I think it will plunge to 30-40.

I now believe substantial shareholders have been selling down all counters to reduce their exposure.

@JJChan Tend to agree on the shorting. It's probably happening in many active counters at the moment.

@stockhunter85 Only hwangdbs has Target Price 2.09; the other 13 research houses have TP of between 1.45 and 1.96.

@contrarian Please lookup TPs(target price) of various research houses. Almost all of them have TP <2.00 for fgv. None have upgraded TP so far. Wait for quarterly results. It may be inflated by extraordinary gains of disposal of assets, a one-time gain. In the meantime, enjoy your gains - it's after all election play. ;)

As reported in June 2017. For the benefit of investors. 2.05 and above is volatile territory because of that, in my humble opinion.
2018-02-20 15:41 | Report Abuse
@contrarian Yes, you're right. Both KPF and KWAP had bought back some shares before CNY break.
2018-02-20 15:38 | Report Abuse
Actually, Felda returned 2.50 to settlers for their fgv purchase so they only paid 2.05! Very unfair to other public investors who still hold at 4.50, don't you think? Malaysia boleh!

Just like MAS and Proton, if there is no qualified foreigner in charge, fgv will be a money-losing crap stock.

It's not EU only. India, the largest importer, increased its palm oil import duty from 15% previously to 30% now. China, the third largest importer, also reduced it's imports.

I guess Felda wants to distribute bonuses to settlers and staff (in view of elections, of course).

Being one of Asia's largest listings, it needs very heavy volumes to move it. KWSP(epf) had sold out a few years ago at a loss to get out of this counter due to dissatisfaction. Just guessing - other local institutions might actually be selling now while foreign funds might be accumulating.

Thanks for all your views. Palm oil will still do well coz it's the cheapest veg oil. But from the point of health, too much oil/fat in any form is bad. This includes fried food, biscuits, margarine, roti canai, etc. Moderate consumption is fine.

In May, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)warned that contaminants in palm oil raise potential health concerns across the board. The EFSA panel found that the major cancer concern is over glycidyl fatty acid esters or GE, which form during food processing, or when palm oil is refined at temperatures over 393 Fahrenheit.
