DAYA - CY'13 performances took an unexpected dive due largely to losses of RM15m in Q4'13. This was attributed largely to cost overruns in the cable laying project, which gained traction in October 2013. CY'13 revenue recorded RM513.5m (+85% y-o-y), while earnings plummeted to RM3.4m (-83% y-o-y). Management has reassured that the cost overrun issues have been fully accounted for in Q4’13, hence will start their CY14 balance sheet on a steady footing. As would be investors, we got to analyse their upcoming Q1’14 report to determine the company’s profitable direction.

VERDICT: SELL OR STAY AWAY, UNTIL THE CO COME WITH A REASONALE EXPLANAION TO THE SHAREHOLDERS. WAS THIS SHARE PRICE ARTIFICIALLY PUSHED UP FOR OTHERS TO EXIT?? REMAINS A MYSTERY, KNOWING VERY WELL THE HIGH MARKET CAPITALISATION OF DAYA (1.23b shares)

UPTREND, to make it attractive for take-up. This was facilitated thru the recent par value reduction exercise - reducing the par value of the stock from Rm 1.00 to 50c. The reduced par value amount was first debited to Share Capital a/c, and credited to Share Premium a/c. It is subsequently debited from Share Premium a/c and credited back to Share Capital to reflect the issuance of shares @ 50c par under ESOS

Thru this exercise, the share capital amount remains intact, except the number of shares in issuance.
