Putin does not want to control the whole of Ukraine. Putin is open to negotiations that results in ceasefire, peace and Russia in control of Donbass, recognition of Donbass as part of Russia and neutrality for rest of Ukraine.

Putin's plans are doable and surely offers the best chance for peace. And good for the world.
