bastionne what you say is true, and it does seems to me that Teo Seng is the top crop among these companies. I would say that it is Felda's loss that they disposed at RM0.95. Look at the current price now. That's 50.5% increase from what Felda got!
My calculated intrinsic value remains at RM2.35 for these few years. However, don't expect total smooth ride as Mr. Market is not predictable at all.

Most stock price are quite high these days due to foreign funds buying. Gotta be careful if they start to sell.

I find it weird and fishy that Felda disposed at RM0.95. Who would dispose their share way below market value??

I don't think I can do what satha44 can do by timing in and out of counter. I'll just stick here until price reach intrinsic value. :)

sunnyleow, is it the same link that I've provided? It says: "The shares could have been transacted by Emerging Glory Sdn Bhd or Koperasi Permodalan Felda, both owning 110.3 million shares and 40 million shares respectively." No definite answers as to who bought or sold Teo Seng shares. Either way, as long as fundamentals remain strong, this will be the best poultry business in Malaysia.

How do you know Felda is disposing? I do not see any announcement on that?

Teoseng's peer: QL Resources, LTKM, Huat Lai, Farm's Best, TPS Plus, Lay Hong, CAB Cakaran. Please correct me if I missed out on any others.

RM1.00 is still a long shot away. Try to aim for the region of RM0.45 - RM0.50 for now.

But Padini will be listed back in syariah in Nov. So I think it will go up again by then.

Hmm what is going on? People buy for the dividend and sell after they get their entitlement? Price is coming back down now from a high 1.37!

Winnie, I understand your concern as a fellow long term investor. Sadly, many claim to be an investor when they do not even buy and hold. And some of them do not even do their own technical analysis! I hope there will be more knowledgeable and informed investors in the future.

The purpose I use screener is so that I can get a good list of which company belongs in which sector and whether they make continuous profit in the last 5 years or 10 years. It will be easier for me to search for potential good stocks to analyze fundamentally!

Google 'Bursa Marketplace'. It is also a good web-based screener!

Bone, I have to agree that your own study will be the best for you. Nobody should blindly follow a "BUY/HOLD/SELL " call even from a reputable research company because they do get it wrong sometimes. Even the best investors in the world might be holding 1-2 stocks in their portfolio that are not making them any profit. Doing your own study/research/reading will eventually help you become a more informed and knowledgeable investor.
Do you plan to cover COASTAL again? Your last post for this counter was 2 years ago and it was a good call. I think it's quite decent now.

LONBISC is currently trading close to its TP of 0.93. If you look at the FY13 Annual Report, they are already expecting higher material cost in FY14. Plus they hold a 32.87% stake in Khee San Bhd, which are not doing well in recent years. Therefore, I do not think LONBISC will be doing well in FY14 as well. Better go for Hup Seng or Apollo (just my opinion).

This company is able to generate more than 1 ringgit for each ringgit of retained earnings. And let's not forget about the increasing ROE and Profit Margins when you look from the historic 5-year view!

I guess different valuation methods produce different results because I don't use P/E in my valuations. Using 12 months EPS would give me 0.48 while normalized EPS would give me 0.38. Either way, I am buying for long term and will only sell if the price goes up too fast in a very short period of time.
2014-06-30 10:07 | Report Abuse
balvin71, putting EPS at 3.32 is quite risky. It would be better to calculate based on 12-month cumulative EPS or to use normalized EPS (average EPS).

Considering no growth for the next 5 years, the price will fall back to 0.66. My valuations have been doing OK for me so far (for other counters) but I do get your point. I might go for slightly less risky valuations the next time. I do employ Margin of Safety though. Cheers :)

greddym3, LTKM is currently recovering from a bad FY12. FY13 was OK for them but not too great either. On the average, they score higher profit margins in the last 5 years; however, they lose out on ROAE as Teo Seng registers at least 15% ROAE yearly while LTKM at best was a 10%.

I did some homework and found out that among so many other companies, only QL Resources can be compared to Teo Seng. The rest are really doing badly but their prices remain in the uptrend due to much speculations.

Jeff88, it is currently trading at a fair price. To be safe, always set a safety margin to protect yourself.

I did compare with LTKM and Lay Hong, and I personally feel that Teo Seng is better with stable ROE for the past 5 years (above 15%), better profit margins and growing earnings. As for the others that you've mentioned, I'll need to do some homework.

Of course I want Padini to give out dividends every year. What I mean is probably give out a little bit less in exchange of maybe placing more ads on billboards, radio and TV? Correct me if I wrong, but maybe H&M is advertising a little more aggressive than Padini.
2014-06-18 10:38 | Report Abuse
I just hope Padini would discontinue giving out dividend every quarter. It's time to retain earnings and expand more aggressively. Price would definitely fall in short term but then it will be good to collect again as the future will be looking good!

Hi 500plus, most people come here to view, learn and exchange ideas irregardless of being long/short term investor. I've been holding for Padini for a year and will continue to do so as long as the company is fundamentally sound. And yet, I'm here almost everyday reading the comments section because everyone have different views and it's good to look at different perspectives before making a buy/hold/sell decision. I learned a lot from here as I'm still new to investing.
As for your outlook of Padini, I have to agree with you. With the current selling by Islamic funds still on-going, I expect the the price will go down further (slowly).
