march quarterly report, part b section 12 , 3rd para, lies this statement made by the company:

"AS OIL PRICES RALLIED, MARGINS ALSO IMPROVED"

so this coming result WTI fell from 54 to 42 USD, its not rocket science to know that margins are going to take hits

capacity of a refinery (max barrels process - able in a day) is fixed just like we have a limit on no.of heart beats. But we have option to increase or decrease the rate as long not exceeding the upper limit.

For HRC it is 156k bpd (as stated above)
For you and me on heart beats ~ 200 beats/min (strenuous exercise).

The value of a barrel has nothing to do with its throughput (the actual processing rate) just like your blood pressure has nothing to do with your heart beats.

@ probability, thanks for your great input to understand more about refinery operations. Can you explain how throughput would increase as a result of lower crude prices. I would imagine that the refinery has a capacity and if this is reached, is it still possible to increase throughput.

Petron has 602mil inventories. Final Ron 95 closing is 1.89. from a high of 2.30previous quarter. Anybody wanna guess the percentage loss in inventory from last quarter. Say bye bye to your 108m net profit
