Asia BIoenergy Technologies (ABIO MK) signed a plant construction agreement with US-based clean technology company Cool Planet Energy Systems Inc that would allow it to use Cool Planet’s technology to develop fuel production plants in Malaysia. AsiaBio is targeting to construct up to 3 fuel production plants costing US70m each, and securing the off takers by 1H 2014. The plants will have a capacity of 10m gallons each.

Hibiscus-North Energy accord

KUALA LUMPUR: Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd’s jointly-controlled entity, Lime Petroleum Norway AS, has executed an additional agreement with North Energy ASA to acquire a 20% stake for production licence, PL509CS, in the North Sea, valued at 1 Norwegian kroner or55 sen.

North Energy was awarded operatorship licence in the 2013 Awards at Predefined Areas on Jan 21, 2014.

The transfer of the equity interest in the licence to Lime Norway is pending regulatory approval, the company said in a statement.

Lime Norway is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lime Petroleum Plc (Lime), and Lime is a jointly-controlled entity in which Hibiscus Petroleum owns a 35%. – Bernama

Malaysia continued to enjoy full employment when its unemployment rate for December last year fell to 2.9 per cent from 3.5 per cent a month earlier.

Petronas has reached an out-of-court settlement with Perwaja Steel Sdn Bhd over the RM275.77 million owed to it by the latter. Perwaja Steel will pay the sum in monthly installments starting from August 2015, the national oil and gas company said in a statement Friday. The steel company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Perwaja Holdings Bhd.

AirAsia India seems to continuously face "roadblocks" in taking to the skies, with the latest being calls from India's private airlines wanting the authorities to block the entry of the frills-free budget carrier.
