The results for the coming qtr would be v good no doubt about it but unless it is accompanied by the announcement of a dividend payment the upside is quite limited. Peoole are hungry for dividend nowadays bcoz of the low deposit rate and some investors will go to other plantation stocks which have div pending and are equally safe

Yes at least there will be 20 sen dividend this FY on top of the 18 sen special dividend received recently which stock below 2.50 in bursa can give you 38 sen in dividend with no worries of going to go bankrupt ? Don't talk about long term nobody will really know what will happen in the long term just like a gloves stock when it was traded around RM10 most IBs forecasted it will reach RM 30 to 50 some gave TP of RM80 but now below 2.50 only causing immense misery and loss to investors who jumped into the bandwagon but I can bet nobody will sufer the same fate like those gloves investors when the keep some lctitan shares in their portfolio

If you don't mind the 8 to 10 % pa returns this is the counter for you but beware of the optr lah

Despite a firmer palm oil futures today both favoured stocks KLK and SOP fell 16 sen and 8 sen respectively this shows instituitinal investors don't buy into too much about the palm oil stories but they could be wrong but most people donwanna fight against them

@Pinky if there is another dividend after the annnoucement of the next qtr results around 3.30 is a good buy if no dividend it will probably fall below 3.20 again people just can't wait for the next dividend

Sometimes I wonder if the gomen is encouraging retail participation in the local stock market or discouraging it. The increase in stamp duties from 0.1 % to more than.015 % is actually a huge increase of more than 50% and is largely negative for stocks like Taan where retail participation is quite meaningful but not instituitional tats why the upwards climb is at snail pace tnmkh

Johnzhang and calvintaneng both of you are not wrong about the future of palm oil prices but the same logic did not reflect on the price of big cap plant stocks like IOI and Sime plant tats why I only keep Taan but still the downwards bias is more than than the upwards at this level

Anyone have any idea what would be the last qtr results looks like ? Will be releasing end of the month as usual

As much as I would like Taan to hit the roof as this is the only plantations stock I have now the reality is it won't cross the 3.80 mark in the near term but higher chances for it to fall below 3.20 in the coming weeks

Johnzhang I hope you are right but looking at the big picture only Taan has some decent gain the rest of the plantation counters almost all in sick bed that also we may not know if this level will hold for Taan

KLK is another fantastic stock and a low cost producer but also not moving despite an 80 sen dividend pending !

The most effecient planter IOI today dropped 9 sen (2.3%) by right Taan should command a price of at least 4.50 based on its earnings potential but is still nowhere near there needless to say no big funds are buying right now

The downsides to most Msian companies are the ESG and cukai makmur and plantations are not exempted. Most funds are pissed off with the additional 33% cukai makmuk on top of the corporate tax starting next year although it is claimed for one off kind of things only but for retailers they keep looking for decent returns for their money taan seems to fit the bill therefore you will also see some tussles along the way. Just look at IOI and sime darby plantation you will understsnd

@Pinky I keyed in to sell 3.38 this morning but was done at 3.40 thereafter it is all the way down. Have said earlier today performane would not be that bad but along the way it will slide

@ Pinky it may drop to below 3.10 before the announement of the next qtr result and dividend payment but not too sure about tomorrow's performance coz today palm oil futures closed pretty strong

Today big cap plantations quite strong gain consistent with sharp rise in palm oil future.
