Saudi Arabia's Dangerous Game

That quote is from Saudi Oil Minister Ali Al-Naimi. And it's the official justification for why Saudi Arabia won't cut its oil production to be more in line with current demand.
Heck, Saudi Arabia has been cutting deals with China and others to sell its oil at below market prices!
That will certainly help the country get market share. It will also keep the pressure on prices.
The Saudi decision to keep pumping even though the global market is oversupplied by as much as 2 million barrels a day will cost it around $39 billion. Bloomberg reports that's what the Saudi budget deficit will be this year.
Last year, the Saudi budget deficit was around $12 billion, even though oil prices were high.
Of course, when you have $732 billion in reserves like the Saudis do, a little deficit spending is no big deal — especially when the payout down the road will be so huge...

PETALING JAYA: Employers of foreign workers, who have to renew their temporary work permits over the counter due to “six special cases”, can do it online soon.

Immigration Department’s foreign worker division director Farah Adura Hamidi said this was possible after immigration offices throughout the country made their improvements during the proof-of-concept (POC) period of MyEG Services Bhd’s online system.

The six cases, which initially required manual clearance at the counters, involved workers who have overstayed, or were blacklisted, those with expired passports, workers who are not required to undergo Fomema screening, incomplete data, or those whose data did not match immigration records.

“There will not be any application which has to be done over the counter after the POC period ends on Feb 28 except new cases that are discovered requiring clearance at the counter,” she told mStar.

Farah Adura said the POC period was meant to identify problems or weaknesses from the implementation of MyEG’s online system.

On Jan 31, The Star reported that employers who face those six situations can only renew their workers’ permits at the immigration counter and not through MyEG’s online service.

Farah Adura said the Immigration Department would create standard operating procedures to ensure the online system could run smoothly.

“There are 14 SOPs which include the enhancement of current SOPs involving over the counter processes and also five new SOPs related to the integration of the online system and the Immigration Department’s system,“ she said.

The five new SOPs involved the issuance of special passes, problems related to Fomema screenings, termination payment for problematic foreign workers, mechanism to distribute temporary work permit stickers to service providers, and verification of permits.

Yesterday show a very srong support above 2.40......next ressistance level will be at 2.55..... The stock experiences somewhat bearish sentiment, but market may correct it shortly.

Based on normal probability distribution, the odds of MY EG to stay above 2.38 is close to 100%.

As an employer point of view.....In the long run I will save a lot of time and petrol, parking money and other cost.....It is just like doing desktop banking.....pay a little bit but save a lot on other cost.

MYEG got good future......Initial hiccups more or less settle.....It is just a system teething problem that can be overcome.....Best time to buy.....MYEG make money....Investors make money too.....

PETALING JAYA: The Immigration Department has listed six special cases in which employers of foreign workers may renew work permits over the counter instead of online.

Its foreign workers division director Farah Adura Hamidi said the special cases had come up while employers were applying for renewals during MyEG Services Bhd’s online system’s proof-of-concept (POC) period, scheduled to end on Feb 28.

She told mStar in an interview that renewals involving the following six circumstances would have to be done at the counter:

> Worker has overstayed;

> Worker has been blacklisted;

> Passport is close to expiry;

> Worker who is not required to undergo Fomema screening anymore, which is after the third year;

> Incomplete data on worker; and

> Worker’s data does not match Immigration records.

After employers complained about the RM38 charge for every online application as well as the sudden nature of the announcement, the department decided to re-open its counters until Feb 28. However, the online applications through MyEG are still available for employers.

Farah Adura said the POC period was to test the efficiency of the system and the service provider.

She said the period had been introduced to identify problems or weaknesses in the system that was implemented on Jan 5.

“We have to move forward in implementing a (renewal) method which is most effective, including using an online system, to make it easier for employers.

“I hope to get feedback from employers to help us improve the system so it can be more effective in the future,” she added.

MyEG executive director Datuk Raja Munir Shah Raja Mustapha admitted there were renewal applications that had to be cleared “manually” at Immigration counters rather than online.

However, he said the system had been improved after resolving issues on matters arising from the RM38 charge slapped on employers.

“We have to think about how to improve. MyEG and the Immigration Department can discuss the steps forward to provide easier and faster service to the public,” he said.

When asked whether they could resolve the six problem areas, Raja Munir said: “InsyaAllah (God willing). We have to look at the mechanism and the process.

“Whatever that we can automate online, InsyaAllah, we will do it.

“There might be some we can’t because they could involve amendments to the law.

“If we can overcome these matters, I do not see why it cannot be done online,” he said.

Raja Munir said they would hold discussions on the best way to inform applicants of cases that could not be processed online.

He added that employers could get clarification by e-mailing help@myeg.com.my.
