An analogy might apply here.
In football you can score a goal by a volley halfway across the field, or you can make a series of passes and try to get near to the goal and score.
Which would you choose?

Hmmm, with hindsight yes. Maybe you can workout the same thing if you had bought something like MAS?
2014-09-14 09:16 | Report Abuse
Right. If bought one lot of MAS during listing, now worth..?. remember, MAS was a monopoly at that time. Economic moat at that time was unmatched.

Very good advice, but there is another question -- which.
With hindsight it is easy to see that Coca Cola is a good company, but how many good companies were there in 1919 which has gone busted?

'In Malaysia, One Doesn't Need Any Qualification (Including Intelligence) To Be A Minister'
This statement is wrong.
The observed scientific fact is that not only our leaders are highly intelligent, their intelligence can be passed down to their children though not in the original form. For example a highly intelligent political leader might have a business whiz kid child who go on to become a billionaire.

I don't know. I just want to compare the price of 1 pack of MAS nasi lemak from the caterers to the upgrade that they mentioned.
2014-03-20 10:43 | Report Abuse
Does anyone knows how much MAS pays to the selected caterers for a pack of Nasi Lemak?

Ha Ha..someone from my own camp just called me selfish and a hypocrite.
First, do you know me very well? Are you my close friend or associate? How do you know I am a selfish person.
Second, since I model my actions and words after my hero, you better not call me a hypocrite. It might just boomerang on our hero.
Third, how do you know I am or I am not a MP?
Don't worry. PM is still my hero.
2014-03-20 09:43 | Report Abuse
I too do not understand why some people hate our PM so much.
He is my hero, and I always wanted to watch him in action. But unfortunately there weren't many chances.
I waited for the debate, but then again it was not his culture, so too bad
I waited for his live Q & A session, but unfortunately he was too busy.
I waited for more press releases, but then he has to take care of us poor folks and help us find chicken.
But I will still wait.
My love knows no bounds.

Can anyone please inform me when he is going to come out the 3rd time with LIVE questions and answers session.
I will surely attend.
Love to see our dear PM, the future International Statesman, in action.

Looking for the plane is like looking for needle in a haystack.
We should seek help from Malaysians who are experienced in looking for sperm in the rectum.

After this incident I hope the word 'bomoh' will become a verb like 'google'.
You know, I bomoh you, you bomoh him, we bomoh each other etc.
That will be the our pride.
2014-03-17 09:36 | Report Abuse
If we don't use bomoh what else can we do?
1. we can't sue them in their country, no legal basis.
2. we can't debate them (never join debating club and always chicken out when ask to debate)
3. we can't stop them from asking questions (press freedom you know).
Bomoh is the way to go.

All kinds of bomoh. Chinese mau san bomoh, indian guru bomoh, iban bomoh, etc. We will bomoh them until their skin peel off.
That will teach them.

Oh dear, I just found out we cannot do that sort of things in other people's countries, oh dear, oh dear, what to do?
How to silence those critics??
I know I know, i will hire a bomoh to cast a spell on them.

We cannot tolerate that kind of things.

Yeap, our brains are switched off. Malaysian style again. Sign off everything with 'saya yang mengikut perintah...'
After a while 'orang yang beri perintah' also afraid to answer questions as he or she has been 'mengikut perintah' for too long.

My great leader is not hiding. That is the way he is. Don't expect him to entertain frivolous questions.
By the way, he is also a people man. He prefers to look for RM1 chicken.

Malaysian style - no QA session (except with friendly soft reporters). This is Malaysia, take it or leave it.

There is no compromise this time. The world has to know and learn Malaysian style. Press conference in Malaysia, Malaysian style. Don't like it, don't come.

Wow, wow, no cursing here.
I heard that if you curse while bomohs are looking through their HubBo telescope you might affect them greatly.
The bomoh has already given us a good clue as to where the plane is, either it is still flying or it has crashed. It cannot be in my living room, or yours.
So that narrows the search somewhat.

Use of bomoh is not to be criticized. It is called 'improvisation of local technology to suit the local environment'.
As we all know, all the fantastic mat salleh equipment might not work well in Malaysia.

Our leaders are under a lot of stress, press conferences, difficult questions and so on. That is why some shun the press conferences as they cannot talk well without prepared speech. Some go to market to relieve stress....
Please ... let us be more understanding.

No, I started with reading 'the little book of value investing.' Simplicity is beautiful.

I think much more due diligence was done, in more ways, and on more aspects than you and I can ever imagine. Only after the benefits outweighs the risk, the pros outweigh the cons, was the project implemented.
I am sure you know what i mean.

I totally disagree.
Our students are much happier than those in the pressure cooker called Shanghai.
Our students are much more balanced. Unfortunately PISA did not test on Morals and Civic and Hisstory, otherwise we would have scored.
Our students know everything about 'nilai murni', so next time they will become leaders with 'murni' like our present UMNO leaders.
Our students might not count very well, but what the heck, we have calculators and computers to do that for us.
Our students might not know science very well, but nowadays we have Google to ask.
Our students might not read very well but if you been spoon fed, do you need to read?
So you see, the PISA test is not relevant to us.
In fact I suggest that we don't take part in PISA in 2015. It is biased and not relevant.
We should have our own version of PISA assessment. Let us call it...PUSA assessment. Then you will see how we can beat Shanghai hands down. All A's of course.

Ah...the earlier nineties.
It was so vibrant and the market was so optimistic and naive. Almost magical tales of tycoons with midas touch, golden fingers and all that.
It was stock play in the day and party at night. Remisers and stock brokers were the most coveted occupation.
I could only watch from the sidelines.
That saved me.

On the other hand...
a look at the performance of AWC over the past 5 years did not show any steady increase in revenue or earnings. The only parameter which seemed to increase was the dividends. But what was the payout ratio?
A quick google showed a payout ratio of over 200%. It is nice to return the money to the shareholders but is it sustainable?
So for me I will pass.

No one point is ever 100% right.
I don't like to generalize across the board but for people who are not very well informed like me, that is probably the safest. Well informed and competent financial experts might take a more complicated approach rather than a generalized simplistic approach.
A simple common sense approach usually works for me.

Have a look at the growth charts for revenue and profits over the past few years. They are free on the Internet. You should be able to see in one glance whether the growth is accelerating, sustained, slowing down or erratic. I only like the first two. Then calculate the PEG.
