Good for long term investment. One of the very few good value/growth stocks. Didn't like the private placement earlier, but then again, to raise capital for long term growth might not be a bad thing.
Forget about Mah Sing. This is the stock that you should keep.
Their niche is affordable housing. So any moves to curb property speculation will not affect it much.
In fact, I would not be surprised that companies involved in affordable housing would benefit in the next Budget.

Living frugally, way of life only for those confident in themselves. They do not need to show off to satisfy themselves and show others.

The best thing for investment is .... Google!
With it, a company can be excluded within 5 minutes.

Padini is 2.3 now. I wonder whether anyone with those trading software saw it coming?

Very confusing. Criteria for buying and selling seems to change within days. Some use FA, some TA, and some hybrid.
There were even suggestions that for different counters we have to use different analysis.

Private placement is something that will dilute the EPS of the current shares you are holding.
Same earnings, but more shares now. New shareholders benefit from below market price and eps, old shareholders..... do they care ?
So who do you think the new shareholders will be. Small guys like us?
This private placement leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

You might miss some golden opportunities elsewhere, but you might escape disasters too.
Better hold a bird you know than to go after 2 that you don't.

Focus your attention and resources on only a few shares on which you have done your homework and are confident.
Do not diversify, it is an excuse for not thinking.
I find this approach rewarding. One of the very few counters I focused on is Padini. But unlike Hooi, I do not sell.

Nothing has been mentioned about the cost.
Maybe Sneha Kutty has an idea?

Right. Just like 4D. You are already a winner if you don't buy.

Padini went up strongly this year. Make no mistake about it, I make >50% unrealised gain. If this system can tell us when to buy low and sell high all the way up, then I would have make > 100% gain, realised. Wonderful isn't it?
I am sure you would agree.

Should have known this kind of system or software earlier, then I would not have bought stocks like padini.
Must go for the demo

With Hua Yang, you really have to be patient. Its' time will come. Meanwhile enjoy the dividends.
I love Hua Yang too and has been accumulating on a regular basis.

should add:
Good habit - share buy back
Bad habit - issue ESOS at 1.90, less than the buy back price.

Both revenue and income has been improving for the past few years. It has only been profitable for the past 3 yrs.
Business model is not complex. Website sucks and not professional. But then maybe they ask the secretary's son to design it to save cost. Debts manageable. I expect the total EPS to be around 25 cts.
Looks like a gem.

Just search Fong Siling in I3 investor and you will understand.
A successful and rich investor. For the time being, Hooi is doing better. I expect that in the long term, Hooi will still do better with his strategy.

He is doing better than Fong Siling.

Investing is easy. We make it difficult for ourselves.
We tried to guess where Europe is headed, what the politicians are trying to do, how the Dow is doing, and of course when Ah Jib is calling for polls (sssshh.. it will in in 2013..). We look at the charts and tried to find meanings to the lines and colors.
Take all these away and focus on what you are investing. Just ask, are you going to put your hard earned money in that company?
In investing, you don't have to do anything most of the time. It is that easy. So easy that you better find another 2nd job, otherwise you will be bored to death.

Hooi has probably done his homework and recognise the potential in Padini. He invests, for a very long term. That is why he is not bothered with the price too much.
I think I can understand his strategy, though he has more bullets.
2012-06-11 14:53 | Report Abuse
Hmmm..that's funny.
My investment is also very focused, but how come I don't have so many bullets?

I used to trade in the past, with more losses than winnings. Being a poor man, those losses were significant for me. Then one day, before the Lehman Crash, I decided to change my way of investing and invested all my savings in Nestle. Boy, did it fly, and the rest is history.
Sold Nestle last year and since then I have been investing based on growth fundamentals alone. Cold hard figures of earnings and growth combined with my own observations.
I don't keep track of charts, Dow, Europe, G8 etc. I don't diversify. Just keep a few good growing stocks and watch for their news.
I regretted I did not invest this way earlier. Otherwise I would have retired by now.

By doing that you will end up with some Padinis and some Megans which will offset each other, leaving you with no gain.
Better do some homework and pick the Padinis or Aeon Credits.

Buffet is diversified because he has been investing for a long time, and over a period of more than 50 years many many different opportunities has presented to him.
By noah's ark investing, he probably meant diversification for the sake of diversification.

I suppose if we can find 10 good counters or more to buy, by all means invest in all of them.
But that is a problem isnt it. I can only think of 3. One of them is padini.
By the way Hooi, I am a newbie here. What is ICAP?

I am smiling thinking of the returns. No, more than that, weeping with joy like those Felda settlers as reported.

Please invest in FElDA for the following reasons:
1. Because we should be proud of the fact that a Malaysian company is the 2nd largest IPO this yr.
2. Because we all know that our leaders are sincere (especially ah JIB) and they do not benefit in any way from this listing
3. Because we all want to become as prosperous as Greece.
4. because figures and fundamentals and loss are not important. TRUST and FAITH is important.
HMMMM....HOPE you are all convinced.
