AT director say on year Sept 2016.
GEORGE TOWN: AT Systematization Bhd, a precision tool maker, expects a new long-term contract secured from an overseas client to help the company turn around after two years of consecutive losses.
Group executive director Mak Siew Wei told StarBiz the company had just sealed a 10-year contract to produce precision tooling components for Rieter, a leading supplier of systems for short-staple fibre spinning based in Switzerland.
The group will start delivering to Rieter in November, but the ramp-up in production will start in March 2017.
“For the first year, orders from Rieter should contribute about 30% or RM10mil to the company’s revenue, which would help us get back to the black after being in the red for two consecutive fiscal years.
“We expect orders from Rieter to grow in volume and value, and by 2019 the contribute to AT Systematization should be around 40%.
The contract, Mak said, was renewable upon expiry at the end of the 10-year period.
“For the first year, we plan to produce 30,000 units of precision components per month for Rieter,” he said.
The precision components would be manufactured at the company’s new plant in Bayan Lepas.
Moving on, the company can expect more orders from Rieter to come in as the latter also develops and manufactures machinery, systems and components used to convert natural and man-made fibres and their blends into yarns.
“Our precision components are used in all their equipment and machinery,” he said.
Listed in the Swiss Stock Exchange, Rieter has 16 manufacturing locations in ten countries, employing a workforce of some 5,077 worldwide.
AT Systematization will implement a right issue exercise in October to raise RM46mil for capital expenditure and to repay borrowings.
“About RM10mil will be used for ramping up production for Rieter and to equip the RM5mil solar plant in Bayan Lepas, which is scheduled for completion by year-end,” he said.
The solar plant is to fulfil the deal in the 21-year concession, which the company had secured recently in 2016 to produce 300 kW of solar power during the period.
“The business will generate additional annual revenue of RM800,000 for the company,” he said.
On its medical device business, Mak said the group was still getting steady orders from US companies in Singapore for its customised components.
“We are currently in talks with a couple of medical device multinational corporations in the Asia-Pacific region.
“We should get some feedback from them before the end of 2016,” he added.
For the first quarter of the 2017 fiscal year ended May, the group posted a net loss of RM1.05mil on the back of RM4.39mil turnover, compared with a net loss of RM534,000 and a RM4.37mil revenue in the same period the last financial year.

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) says that, by 2050, renewables will add about $19 trillion to the world economy, and will create about 6 million jobs.
The increase in use of renewable energy, plus improved energy efficiency, will achieve the emissions reductions needed to keep global temperature rises to no more than 2C, according to IRENA. The aim of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change is to keep global temperature increase well below 2C and if possible below 1.5C.
IRENA says that while changing the energy landscape requires massive investment – some $29 trillion –
this only represents 0.4% of global GDP.
In addition to boosting the economy, it will create enough jobs to offset job losses in the fossil fuel industry, and of course, give us a healthier planet to live on.
Renewable energy now accounts for 24% of global power generation and 16% of primary energy supply. To achieve decarbonization, the report states that, by 2050, renewables should be 80% of power generation and 65% of total primary energy supply.

2. Long Term ---- Direct sale of electricity to Tenaga National Bhd (TNB) from two solar photovoltaic installations at the factories of AT Systematization Bhd. These photovoltaic installations of capacities 425 kWp and 300 kWp will generate annual electricity sales of RM 0.54 m and RM 0.33 m, respectively, contributing to 10% of AT Bhd's revenue. The return on investment period for this Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) program with TNB is expected to be 5-6 years. This will generate steady income for up to 21 years and thus the renewable energy (RE) venture of AT Systematization is profitable and definitely a wise move. AT look good for long term investment.
