Bekas pegawai imigresen didakwa 17 pertuduhan rasuah

KUALA TERENGGANU - Seorang bekas pegawai imigresen didakwa di Mahkamah Sesyen Kuala Terengganu, hari ini atas 17 pertuduhan menerima suapan bernilai lebih RM60,000 daripada ejen pekerja asing.

Tertuduh, Mohd Khairil Kamaruddin, 29, mengaku tidak bersalah terhadap semua pertuduhan tersebut yang dibacakan di hadapan Hakim, Jamaludin Mat.

Berdasarkan pertuduhan, tertuduh yang ketika itu bertugas sebagai Pegawai Imigresen Gred KP19 di Johor, didakwa telah memperoleh wang tunai untuk diri sendiri, kira-kira RM63,430 yang diketahui mempunyai hubungan dengan kerja-kerja rasminya.

Dia didakwa melakukan perbuatan itu antara Mac 2018 hingga Januari 2020.

Pertuduhan mengikut Seksyen 165 Kanun Keseksaan yang memperuntukkan hukuman penjara maksimum dua tahun dan denda atau kedua-duanya, jika sabit kesalahan.

Mahkamah membenarkan tertuduh diikat jamin sebanyak RM40,000 dengan seorang penjamin dan menetapkan sebutan kes pada 17 Januari depan.

Pendakwaan dikendalikan Timbalan Pendakwa Raya, Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM), Nor Hamizah Ghazali manakala tertuduh diwakili peguam, Datuk Syed Azimal Amir Syed Abu Bakar.

[JAKARTA] Indonesia has decided to offer free Covid-19 vaccines to people after considering the state budget, said President Joko Widodo.

Jokowi, as he's commonly known, has ordered the finance minister to reallocate spending from other matters to fund the free vaccines, he said in a Cabinet secretariat statement. He will also be the first to be inoculated as a way to show people that the shots are safe.

"So there is no longer any reason for people not to get it," he said.

It's unclear how much the programme will cost and which of the vaccines ordered by the country, which include China's Sinovac Biotech, Novavax and AstraZeneca would be covered. A shipment of 1.2 million doses from Sinovac arrived in Jakarta this month and is being evaluated by the local drug regulator before the government can start what's set to be Southeast Asia's earliest vaccination programme.

The country that's home to the world's fourth-largest population previously laid out a plan to pay for nearly 74 million doses through its national health coverage, while the rest of its 270 million people would have to shoulder the cost themselves. The expense is a key concern for Indonesians, with only one-third of those who want to be vaccinated against the virus saying they would be willing to pay for the shots, according to a government survey in September.

Brazil government have criticized that the emergency use standard are not transparent for China's vaccine, even China protest saying that it had been confirmed to be safe.
According to Reuters, the Brazilian National Health Supervision Agency has criticized the vaccine approval standard are not transparent.

In Brazil, clinical trials of a vaccine manufactured by China's Synovac are underway, with a total of 6 million doses expected to arrive by next month.

In response, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded at a press conference on the 15th of this month that "companies are conducting research and development of vaccines based on scientific discipline and management requirements." but failed to reveal anything else.
He pointed out that some countries have already approved the use of Chinese vaccines, and emphasized that safety and other factors meet international standards.
