KUALA LUMPUR: Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif (CEO) Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp), Abdul Jalil Abdul Rasheed membeli 66 juta lagi saham dalam syarikat itu.
Ini menjadikan kepentingannya di dalam BCorp kini meningkat kepada 2.71 peratus, atau 136 juta saham, demikian menurut satu makluman di Bursa Malaysia hari ini.
Manakala harga saham syarikat itu melonjak ke paras tertinggi dalam tempoh lima tahun pada 46 sen.
Abdul Jalil, yang mengambil alih jawatan CEO BCorp pada 16 Mac lalu, membeli lima juta saham pada Isnin lalu di pasaran terbuka dan tambahan 61 juta saham lagi hari berikutnya, menerusi pasaran terbuka serta urus niaga perniagaan langsung.
Berdasarkan harga urus niaga semasa makluman, beliau membelanjakan kira-kira RM1.68 juta dan RM19.99 juta lagi pada dua hari pertama pasaran minggu ini.
Ini menjadikan Abdul Jalil membelanjakan kira-kira RM41.27 juta untuk membeli saham dalam konglomerat itu.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Berjaya said Jalil bought 66 million shares of between 32.5 sen and 33.75 sen each.
Notably, share price of Berjaya Corp have more than doubled in two weeks to a five-year high of 46 sen despite the broader market being on a decline.
It was the most actively-traded stock besides Berjaya’s other listed subsidiaries namely Berjaya Assets Bhd, Berjaya Land Bhd, Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd, Berjaya Food Bhd and 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd.The appointment of Jalil marks the first time in the conglomerate’s history that a non-family member is running the family-controlled business.
