Remember back in December when Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, made a trip to Malaysia, where it was announced that he was partnering up with YTL to bring his company’s supercomputers into the country by the middle of this year? Well, our minister of Investment, Trade, & Industry, Tengku Zafrul, reaffirmed that the original plan is on track.

As per an official post on X, formerly Twitter, Zafrul confirmed that the the NVIDIA and YTL partnership will see a total investment of RM20 billion, with an initial RM4.3 billion set to be invested throughout the first phase of its plan, which is scheduled to take place in June 2024. Further, and as mentioned earlier, that investment will also see the two companies bringing in what the minister describes as the “fastest” supercomputer into the country.

Pada Disember lalu juga Jensen Huang, pengasas dan CEO NVIDIA telah ke Malaysia untuk bertemu YAB Perdana Menteri.

Hari ini, saya bermesyuarat bersama pihak NVIDIA dan YTL Power International Berhad (YTLPI) sekali lagi untuk membincangkan tentang tindakan lanjut susulan lawatan saya ke fasiliti NVIDIA dan juga mesyuarat bersama YAB PM.

NVIDIA-YTLPI merancang pelaburan dalam infrastruktur AI untuk aktiviti perkhidmatan awan di Malaysia dengan pelaburan infrastruktur komputer awan sebanyak RM20 bilion, termasuk pelaburan sebanyak RM4.3 bilion dalam fasa pertama menjelang Jun 2024. Selain itu, pelaburan ini juga akan membawa "superkomputer" terpantas ke Malaysia, sejajar dengan aspirasi Malaysia di bawah NIMP 2030 untuk menjadi “cloud-first nation”.

NVIDIA-YTLPI juga merancang kerjasama bersama Kementerian dan agensi di Malaysia untuk memperkukuhkan ekosistem dan kemampuan penyelidikan dan pembangunan (R&D) AI, terutamanya bagi PKS, termasuk menyusun silibus dan program melalui penubuhan Centre of Excellence (COE).

Saya yakin kolaborasi antara NVIDIA dan YTLPI ini akan menarik pelaburan dan kepakaran dari pemain industri lain, sekaligus memperkukuhkan kedudukan Malaysia dalam landskap global AI.

to me the biggest potential i see is based on these info.....with the trust NVIDIA has with YTL, and YTLP's capability...this is an area of super-growth with NVIDIA (to fill the gap in meeting singapore's NVIDIA revenue growth)

After 2 months, Tengku zaiful twitter confirm that：
The supercomputer will be ready in mid of June. The progress still in line.
The first phase of installation cost will be Rm4.3b.
Part of the usage of this AI DC is already planned.

It should be no worry that, Nvidia is the smartest in running DC.
Nvidia could generate tons of profit in US, why not in Kulai?
