KUALA LUMPUR (July 25): Kuching has been categorised as a red zone after 41 Covid-19 cases have been detected as at noon today, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said Hospital Sentosa, also in Kuching, has been closed to the public and all its employees have been placed under quarantine at the hospital.
”There are four new cases in the Hospital Sentosa Cluster. (A total of) 677 individuals have been screened and tested, 657 are still waiting for their results and Kuching, Sarawak has become a red zone," he said in a statement on his Facebook today.
He said close contact tracing has been undertaken.
Malaysia recorded 23 new Covid-19 cases today, compared to 21 yesterday.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said it will convene a special meeting tomorrow to discuss the latest development on the Covid-19 pandemic in the Kuching District.
In a statement issued in Kuching tonight, he said the district had been experiencing spikes in cases lately, with eight new positive cases reported today.
"We have 39 (new) positive cases (accumulated since last Sunday) and with one more case, we will turn into a red from the yellow zone. When we turn red it reflects the seriousness of the situation. This warrants certain measures to be taken. Tomorrow's meeting will be a special one to determine these measures," he said.
He said whatever measures deliberated and determined would be conveyed to the Health Ministry.
"We want them to act on them so that we can enforce or implement them as soon as possible,” he said, adding that travel bans would be among issues to be discussed in the meeting.
SDMC advisors Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is State Housing and Local Government Minister, and Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi (Sarawak Public Utilities Minister), State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing and his team of medical experts are expected to attend the meeting.
Menteri Kanan (Kluster Keselamatan) Ismail Sabri Yaakob tidak menolak kemungkinan Perintah kawalan pergerakan (PKP) kembali dilaksanakan jika kes positif harian Covid-19 di negara ini mencecah tiga angka.
Beliau berkata, jika kes terus meningkat kerajaan tiada pilihan melainkan menguatkuasakan semula PKP sekali gus mengehadkan pergerakan seperti yang dilakukan pada awal penularan wabak berkenaan.
"Empat hari berturut-turut kes meningkat. Laporan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) mengatakan kes meningkat disebabkan kealpaan kita sendiri. Kita lupa apabila kita melanggar prosedur operasi standard (SOP) akhirnya kes semakin meningkat.

Still, it is not just MAS that needs help. Malaysia-based AirAsia Group Bhd, AirAsia X Bhd and Malindo Airways Sdn Bhd have also sought government assistance although Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz has said the government would not provide direct aid to the aviation industry in general.
Sources say AirAsia will receive US$250 million in loans backed by Danajamin Nasional Bhd. This is in addition to its plans to raise capital of up to RM1.4 billion through equity financing. Last week, AirAsia group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes was reported as saying that the carrier was looking to raise up to RM2 billion in the next six months.
Yup. Today they must announce the quarter 1 result to the public. Then, most probably we will foresee the Current liability more than current asset by RM xxx. The retained earning below xx % of the issued share capital. Situation 1: PN 17 : Need to submit regularisation plan Situation 2: Exempted from PN 17. Situation 3: No PN 17.

AirAsia X (AAX) released its 1QFY20 operating numbers overnight, with the most notable statistic being its traffic volume contracting by 25% YoY to 1.1m passengers. This is on the back of capacity cuts with available seats per km (ASK) dropping by 21% YoY amid reduced flight frequency as well as temporary suspension of certain routes, to mitigate slower travel demand as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. AAX is scheduled to release its 1QFY20 results and passenger yield data next month. To recap, its Malaysian operation (MAAX) had announced the temporary hibernation of its entire fleet and suspended all scheduled operations for a period of 2 months effective 28 March 2020. This will negatively affect its 2QFY20 earnings for certain. We retain our Underperform call with unchanged target price of RM0.03 based on 1x FY20F BVPS.
1QFY20 statistics. During 1QFY20, MAAX carried only 1.1m passengers (- 25% YoY), as its capacity shrank by 21% YoY to 6.9bn of available seats per km (ASK). Passenger load hence declined by 9.4 ppts to 74%, compared to 83% in 1Q19 (Table 1). Both the number of passengers carried and ASK for 1Q20 were above our expectation at 29% of our full year forecast however, though we believe this to be in-line as we expect poorer numbers for the rest of the year. In February 2020, MAAX had reduced its flight frequency to China as travel restrictions tightened, coupled with softer travel demand. Meanwhile, in March 2020, it halted almost 90% of its routes network, including Australia, Japan, South Korea and India. Four routes were terminated in March, namely Tianjin, Wuhan, Lanzhou and Jaipur.
Associates performance. Thailand AAX (TAAX) passenger load was softer at 77% in 1QFY20, compared to the 90% load in the same quarter last year. During the quarter, its ASK capacity decreased by 22% YoY to 2.6bn. TAAX had announced the suspension of all scheduled operations for a period of 3 months effective from 16 March 2020, amid the Covid-19 pandemic as well as subsequent to travel restrictions in almost all regions. As at March 2020, TAAX fleet size remains at 14 aircraft.
2Q20 is almost 2 months locked down compare to 2 weeks locked down in 1Q20 Monday will trigger margin Call for Tony & Co....maybe Tony takes one month to negotiate with Bank .....have to see
I came here to warn.. I’m quite surprised a lot of people retailers still buying airlines stock.. just exit if possible.. there’s no way to recover , Aax will delist soon... this covid will last about a year more atleast..
