Problem with democracy is that, we elect those who we like and represent us without really knowing what they will bring to the table!
For longest time, we only knew BN! We enjoyed a very long stable government!
And then kaboom! 2018, we witness a new administration! Which only last 22 months!
For Malaysia, the main problem is a share common goal! Our lawmakers are too busy playing gimmicks! Like Timah whiskey! Or 4D ban in Kedah! Or ex PM privilege to select property and so forth! All are game to create outrage!
But let's put a fundamental goals like HSR, economy, private and public governance! Zero! Lawmakers are so divided, they won't come to agreement on the necessity of HSR! HSR is very important to provide mass transport from Singapore all the way to Thailand! It can cut carbon emission for Malaysia and at the same time provide huge employment and spinoff for our economy! But end of the day, our lawmakers would rather play political gimmicks year in year out!
Because we will continue to change from one administraton to another, our debts only continue to pile up year after year! Eventually, we will reach a level where government of the day will sell our sovereignty to other nation because we have reach a level where debts no longer be able to be paid!
That is why China can just sit and wait for the rest of the democratic nations to crumble and fall under their national debts!
USA is already bankrupt! It will never recover ever again! China will have field time buying essential assets from US in coming years! No need to go to war at all!
A constant political instability only weaken democratic nations as they continue to pile debts after debts!
So yeah, this is the reality of democracy! A brief period where we had a freedom of choice but such freedom only bring us to ruin!
