MIRI: Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) will continue to expand its Unifi high-speed broadband service in Sarawak as the demand for the service is expected to grow.
TM Sarawak general manager Abdul Rahim Mohd Ali said to date there were a total of 3,000 Unifi subscribers in the state.
"As of now, the Unifi service is available in selected areas in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri," he told reporters after the signing of an agreement between TM and Miri Grand Palace Hotel to provide TM's Direct Over Metro E (Dome) service, a high-speed Internet access, today.
Under the five-year agreement, TM will be the network provider for the hotel, providing 24-hour digital links up to one gigabit per second (1 Gbps).
Abdul Rahim however ruled out the possibility that Unifi services would be expanded aggressively as it would be based on the agreement with the state goverment as well as the infrastructure provided by interested parties such as housing developers.-- Bernama
