PUTRAJAYA: Some 3.8 million households are scheduled to get their Cost of Living Aid (BSH) 2020 on Jan 20 based on the BSH 2019 database, which has undergone several screening processes, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng today.

He said the first phase BSH payout of RM300 for each household would involve an allocation of RM1 billion to be credited into the recipients' bank accounts.

"To make sure those truly qualified are not left out under the BSH 2020 programme, one can apply and make updates starting from Feb 1 to March 15.

Aside from the household category, the 2020 BSH application is also open for the single category aged 40 and above as what has been announced during the 2020 Budget.

"No application is necessary if the applicant has been approved and there is no change of information details as well as for disabled applicants listed as the Welfare Department's e-Bantuan recipients," said Lim in a statement.

The minister, however, said applicants should make new application or update their details if they had not registered for the BSH application new category.

"It also applies to unsuccessful BSH 2019 applicants who fulfil the BSH 2020 requirements and disabled applicants who are not listed as JKM e-Bantuan recipients who meet the BSH 2020 requirements," Lim said, adding these were done to allow such applicants the chance to be re-verified.

The minister added once the BSH 2020 database had been updated, the payout under phase 2 and 3 would be done to the household category. For the single and disabled categories, the one-off payment would be made in phase 2.

The 2020 BSH recipients (household category) in the rural areas who have bank accounts would receive the payout on the same date, he said, adding those without bank account would get cash payment starting from Feb 1.
