KUALA LUMPUR: The state Health Departments and district health offices nationwide have been empowered to do what they can to ensure the people are vaccinated against Covid-19.

Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said this was being done to overcome the problem of people not turning up for their inoculation appointments.

"For example, the Terengganu Health Department had asked for the Covid-19 Immunisaton Task Force to deploy its mobile units to villages and to conduct the vaccination exercises from house to house.

"This was successfully done. So now, we have given the freedom to the respective states and district health authorities to embark on approaches to vaccinate the people. 

"If the people do not want to leave their homes to get jabbed, we will go to them," said the Science, Technology and Innovation minister in a press conference via Zoom today.

Also present was Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
