In the book, he described why he loved a company that had to spend a lot of money to build up its manufacturing facilities and in the interim reported challenging earnings. Going forward, there will still be more expenses to put the whole factory in efficient operation. After that, DLady will be firing on all 4 cyclinders (hopefully ;-) )

Many institutions sold DLady when it cut its dividends. These institutions were probably mandated to look at income in their portfolio.

The reason for the cut in dividends was obvious. DLady redirected this to fund its new factory in Negri Sembilan. Remarkably, it continues to pay dividends (though diminished) and has not borrowed heavily to fund the factory.

Once the factory is up and running, we can expect the dividends to increase again. But I should not be sharing this too openly as I wish for the stock price to be down since I like to buy grocery cheap. :-)

Number one rule, invest in good companies. Diesel cost affected the whole industry with physical products. So it’s a level playing field.

Increased in cost is mostly transferred to consumers. For consumer staples like milk, changes in demand would be minimum.

USD to MYR is down almost 10% from 4.77 to 4.37. That will translated into cost saving in the future. Dlady hedges forex 6 monthly.

“Operating profit for this quarter was RM42.9 million, an increase of 96.3% compared to the previous quarter. In line with the announced investment in our future manufacturing activities, DLMI applied accelerated depreciation of its assets in the Petaling Jaya factory that cannot be transitioned to the new site.

The accelerated depreciation ceased at the end of Q2 2024, while other one-off operating costs related to activities for the construction and transition towards the new site have been incurred in the remaining quarters of 2024. The reported operating profit includes costs for accelerated depreciation and one-off costs amounting to RM1.4 million in Q4 2024, compared to RM13.2 million in Q3 2024.”

Dutch Lady posts 33.5pct higher earnings to RM96.7mil in FY24

KUALA LUMPUR: Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd's (DLMI) net profit rose 33.5 per cent to RM96.7 million for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2024 (FY24) from RM72.4 million a year ago.

The company's revenue rose to RM1.45 billion from RM1.44 billion in FY23.

"Full-year performance showed solid progress with profit before tax increasing by 29.6 per cent to RM125.0 million, reflecting strong operational execution, and successful transition to the new facility," it said in a statement today.

In the fourth quarter (Q4), the dairy group's net profit rose 34.6 per cent to RM30.7 million , while revenue climbed marginally to RM365.9 million from RM364.5 million a year ago.

DLMI said growth in revenue was predominantly driven by higher sales in the company's core range of UHT milk products and sales of the newly-launched Dutch Lady Sip & Seal Packs.

DLMI managing director Ramjeet Kaur Virik said the company remains steadfast in providing consumers with high-quality, sustainable and Halal dairy nutrition.

"As part of the transition to DLMI@Enstek, we discontinued the production and distribution of some of our non-core Dutch Lady range of products in Q3 2024, which partly offset the growth in the core range compared to the same quarter last year," she said.

In addition, Ramjeet said the construction of DLMI's distribution centre next to DLMI@Enstek is well underway and expected to be completed in the first half of 2025.

"While we continue to be cautiously optimistic for the year ahead, we look forward to this journey with new opportunities boosted by increased capacity and room for innovations," she added.

Background of Kong Hee Pastor

Kong Hee, the founder of City Harvest Church in Singapore, was convicted of misusing church funds to support his wife's music career.

How was Kong convicted?
In 2015, Kong and five other church leaders were found guilty of criminal breach of trust (CBT).
The court ruled that the group misused church funds to fund the music career of Kong's wife, Ho Yeow Sun.
The court also found that the group falsified accounts to cover up the misuse.

Kong was jailed for eight years.
Others received sentences ranging from 21 months to six years.

The case was Singapore's biggest case in misuse of charitable funds.

The court noted that the $50 million was ultimately returned to the church.

We draw your attention to the sharp rise in price and volume of your Company’s shares recently (“trading activity”).

In light of the above and in order for investors to be able to make informed investment decisions, you are requested to respond, after making due enquiry with your directors, major shareholders and such other relevant persons, to the following queries immediately for public release in accordance with paragraph 9.11 of Listing Requirements :

1. Whether there is any corporate development relating to your Group’s business and affairs that has not been previously announced that may account for the trading activity including those in the stage of negotiation/discussion. If yes, kindly provide the details including status of the corporate development to enable investors to make informed investment decisions

2. Whether there is any rumour or report concerning the business and affairs of the Group that may account for the trading activity and in this respect, you are required to comply with Paragraphs 9.09 and 9.10 of Bursa Securities LR;

3. Whether you are aware of any other possible explanation to account for the trading activity; and

4. Whether you are in compliance with the Bursa Securities LR, in particular Paragraph 9.03 of the Bursa securities LR on immediate disclosure obligations.
