KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's economy is resilient with the state seeing growth despite challenges over the last few years, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

"We have done well in terms of investments across key sectors, attracting both domestic and foreign investments.

"For 2023, Sabah recorded RM11.34bil in investments, placing it as the seventh highest in Malaysia with 13.3% from the manufacturing sector alone," he said at the Sabah Top Achievers 2024 Gala Awards Dinner held here.

He said the success demonstrated the state's capability to attract global players in diverse industries, ranging from high-tech manufacturing to renewable energy based products making it an attractive investment destination.

Hajiji's speech was read by Deputy Chief Minister II cum state Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam at the event held Thursday (Oct 11).

Hajiji said the state government’s focus on the three foundational pillars as outlined in its development plan – the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya- focuses on Agriculture, Industry, and Tourism; Investing in the People and Enhancing Connectivity with a Green Approach, to develop Sabah over a five-year period from 2021.

In this respect, he said entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and innovators being honoured at the Sabah Top Achievers Gala Award had played an integral role in this success, driving forward the state’s progress and ensuring that Sabah continues to be a strong and vital contributor to the national economy.

"Going forward, I am certain that events like this Sabah Top Achievers 2024 will elevate Sabah's standing, both nationally and internationally, by celebrating talents and success stories from the state.

"The success will inspire future generations to actively contribute towards the growth and progress of Sabah," he added.
