He graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1972 and obtained a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario, Canada in 1976.
Working Experience
He served as an engineer with Esso Singapore Pte Ltd from 1973 to 1974. His experience embraces oil palm and rubber estate management, palm oil mill management and property development. From 1972, he has been a Director of Sharikat Kim Loong Sendirian Berhad ("SKL"), an investment holding company which owns a controlling stake in Crescendo Corporation Berhad ("CCB") and Kim Loong Resources Berhad ("KLRB"). Since 1977, he has been a director of Kim Loong Palm Oil Mill Group which is involved in palm oil milling. He is the Managing Director of KLRB and also a director of several other private companies.

He is a child of Mdm Loo Geok Eng, the Chairperson of CCB and a brother to Mr. Gooi Seong Lim, Mr. Gooi Seong Chneh and Mr. Gooi Seong Gum, all Executive Directors of CCB.

He is holding a total of 2,142,835 ordinary shares in CCB, of which 128,000 and 56,000 shares are held in bare trust by Citigroup Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn. Bhd. and Public Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn. Bhd. respectively. By virtue of his interest in SKL, he has a deemed interest in the 99,228,700 shares in CCB held by SKL.
