Ms Tan started her career with British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad as a Research and Development Executive from 1991 to 1992.
She was with Ke-zan Securities Sdn Bhd as an Investment Analyst for one (1) year prior to joining Credit Suisse Securities (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd ("Credit Suisse") as an Investment Analyst in 1994.
She was then promoted to Director to lead the regional plantation team with coverage in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia until her retirement in 2017.
She was appointed as the Head of Research of Credit Suisse for seven (7) years (2010 - 2017).
During her tenure as the Head of Research in Credit Suisse, she led the Credit Suisse Malaysian equity research team to rank first in the Institutional Investor Poll in Malaysia for seven (7) consecutive years.
