After declining in the first half of 2024, electronic sales rebounded in Q3 2024, growing 8% QoQ, with a projected QoQ increase of 20% in Q4 2024. IC sales also rose by 12% QoQ in Q3 2024 and are expected to grow another 10% in Q4 2024. Overall, IC sales are forecasted to increase over 20% in 2024, primarily driven by memory products due to price improvement across the board and strong demand for data center memory chips.
Additionally, both the Test and the Assembly and Packaging segments experienced impressive YoY increases of 40% and 31%, respectively, in Q3 2024, and this growth is anticipated to continue for the remainder of the year.

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 25): Semiconductor packaging and testing services provider Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (KL:MPI), a unit of Hong Leong Group, said it is anticipating a challenging operating environment ahead, even as it reported a near doubling of its net profit for its first quarter spanning July to September this year.
The group's net profit for the first quarter ended Sept 30, 2024 (1QFY2025) surged to RM30.13 million from RM16.52 million in 1QFY2024, as revenue climbed while operating expenses fell, which helped offset the impact of a less favourable foreign exchange rate, MPI said in its Monday bourse filing. And due to tax incentives granted to its subsidiaries, MPI's effective tax rate for 1QFY2025 is lower than the statutory tax rate.
Revenue rose marginally to RM516.57 million from RM513.21 million, while operating expenses dropped RM9.46 million to RM19.79 million.
MPI declared an interim single-tier dividend of 10 sen per share, to be paid on Dec 24, maintaining the same payout as in the corresponding period last year. The group remained in a net cash position as of end-September, with a cash balance of RM1.06 billion against total borrowings of RM69.83 million.
During the quarter, MPI saw its revenue contribution for the Asia and Europe segments increase by 8%, while revenue from the US segment declined by 23%.
Looking ahead, the group cautioned that its operating environment could be affected by geopolitical instability, currency fluctuations and inflationary pressures.
“The group will focus its emphasis on cost optimisation through automation and process enhancements, while refining its strategy to gain business on growing chip demand in renewable energy, electric vehicles and artificial intelligence sectors,” MPI said.
MPI’s shares rose 28 sen or 1.15% to close at RM24.68 on Monday, valuing the group at RM5.18 billion. The stock has been on a downward trend in recent weeks, declining from its year-high of RM41.02 in June. This has resulted in a year-to-date loss of nearly 12%.

Has been collecting MPI shares lately because MPI business is growing with good profit margins, and astonishing high net cash of RM 1040 million.
MPI share price crashing below 10 year low is way deviated from intrinsic value of MPI as tech giant with huge investment in AI servers (45% of revenue), followed by automotive (36% of revenue), 5G and IOT (13%) and PC (5%). I m confident that MPI share price is bottoming out and would resume up trend soon.
Happy investing and hv a good day.

The semiconductor industry is poised for another remarkable performance in 2025, according to Bank of America. Despite a stellar year, which saw heavy investment in artificial intelligence, experts predict that interest may shift towards other sectors like automotive and industrial chipmakers. This change could lead to a rebound in production and inventory replenishment, particularly if the global economy begins to recover.

Over half a decade, Malaysian Pacific Industries Berhad managed to grow its earnings per share at 6.7% a year. This EPS growth is slower than the share price growth of 17% per year, over the same period. So it's fair to assume the market has a higher opinion of the business than it did five years ago.
