馬資源2017財政年末季（截至12月31日止）淨利的營收分別急挫44%與60%，主因是核心業務，即工程、建築及環境，還有產業發展及投資業務收入顯著減少。

主要發展項目如Sentral Residences和Easton Burwood已在去年初完成，導致產業發展業務末季營收大跌67%；而工程、建築及環境業務營收也萎縮58%。

排除一次性因素後，馬資源2017財政年的核心淨利實際上暴漲了361%，但由於末季業績不振，加上早前1配1附加股集資影響市場情緒，使其股價每況愈下。

無論如何，隨著大馬各項巨型基建計劃和大型發展項目開始啟動，馬資源的長遠前景可期，本益比15.40倍，。其中，隆新高鐵、與桂沙白沙羅（ Kwasa Damansara） MX- 1城鎮發展項目將是未來2張王牌。

馬資源已和金務大（ GAMUDA， 5398）共組財團，聯手競標隆新高鐵項目的工程執行夥伴合約（ PDP），由於2家公司在軌道基建上經驗豐富，應可中選。

聯昌國際投行分析員指出，隆新高鐵項目單單PDP部份價值約250億-400億令吉，若以PDP合約6%獲利率，及7年工程期計算，持有聯營財團50%股權的馬資源平均每年平均可進賬1億零700萬-1億7100萬令吉。

另外，馬資源持股70%的桂沙中環在3月22日委託馬資源子公司- -馬資源置地為桂沙MX- 1項目的管理承包商，這項目的發展總值為74億6199萬令吉。不過，這項目預期要在中長期內才會帶來貢獻。
