A fund manager with a local asset management firm favours Dagang NeXchange Bhd, the share price of which is a fourth lower compared with a year ago.

“I think if you look at companies like DNeX, the fundamentals are strong but its PER is only in the low teens. Most of the selldown was due to the uncertainties in the global market as a whole but if you’re investing for the long term, the company is in a good position to grow. It has a diverse business in IT support as well as in the oil and gas space, which is seeing recovery with oil prices at current levels. Its balance sheet is also strong,” he says.

“Of course, there is the concern over the proposed fine of RM17.4 million by the Malaysia Competition Commission for alleged monopoly abuse. Apart from that, the company seems like a good buy,” he adds.

Pursuant to the release of the Malaysian Budget 2019, the Board of Directors of GENM wishes to inform that it has been advised by the Ministry of Finance today that the casino licence fee will be revised from RM120 million to RM150 million per annum and the casino duties will be revised up to 35%. The increase in casino duties represents a 10 percentage point increase over existing duty rates. The amendments will take effect from 1 January 2019.

GENM is assessing the full implications of the additional taxes and will take the appropriate next course of action which includes a review of its marketing expenditure and cost structure to mitigate the impact of the tax increases.

Anyone noticed there is a direct business transaction of up to 4.2 mil shares from 29/08 to 30/08? Total value close to 2.2 mil ringgit.

Share price artificially inflated for past few weeks. Big boys will push up a little, let market have the impression price is set for rebound, trapping small investors, while slowly unload their position.

This process could take weeks, even months.

Kinda overpriced in my opinion, should be interesting to see the movement today. May result to profit taking, hope I'm wrong.

Current government's position is to reduce debt, therefore decline in future project as compared to previous years. Few of my friends in construction industry reported drastic dropped in earnings coupled with rising bad debt.
