KUALA LUMPUR (May 24): Dagang NeXchange Bhd’s net profit jumped 180% to RM15.08 million in its first quarter ended March 31, 2017 (1QFY17), from RM5.37 million in the previous year, mainly benefitting from the group’s transformation to strengthen its information technology, as well as oil & gas businesses.

Earnings per share increased to 0.87, from 0.69 in 1QFY16.

In a filing to Bursa, the predominate ICT company said its improved earnings were mainly driven from post-acquisition revenue of OGPC Sdn Bhd, recurring income from operating & managing the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) and Road Charges (RC) System Project, as well as continued growth in the group’s business-to-business (B2B) & business-to-government (B2G) business.

Revenue increased 62.97% to RM43.83 million in 1QFY17, from RM26.89 million a year ago.

On its prospects, the group said its income performance is expected to perform well, in tandem with improving crude oil price outlook.

“The new recurring income from the VEP & RC System project, eWork Permits, and the opportunity under the PETRONAS Carigali Umbrella Contract, to the directional drilling unit, has opened up a new revenue stream to the group,” it said.

Dagang NeXchange shares closed down 2.5 sen or 4.07% at 59 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM1.05 billion.
