@Icon8818 First, you need establish the starting oil price valuation correctly.
They are not precisely measure at the end of the reporting qtr say 31Dec 2016. If you see the Q1 2017 eps of 93 cents. There was definitely a significant inventory gain. In the 2nd qtr 2017 results they did mention there was a gain in Q1 2017. This would force the starting value of oil to be around 47 USD/brl for 2017 considering the end value of Brent at 31March 2017.

The ending value of Brent for 2017 was around 67 USD/brl.
Their inventory in barrels exceed 4400. Only this way you can explain their large inventory reported early 2017. Barrels x value/barrel = Inventory value.

Using a change of 20 USD/brl multiplied by the barrels, you obtain = the value change = 20 USD/brl x 4400 barrels x 4.4 RM/USD average = 387M.
