in the disposal proposal to shareholder last year, Kulim promised to distribute RM0.78 from the profit of the sale of NBPOL over 2 years period. RM0.376 is a pretty much if the RM0.78 divided by 8 quarters. There will be an addition RM80mil currency gain if calculate the present BP to RM compare to the calculation the sales prospect to shareholder last year. However, if the management do a currency hedging or some agreement within Kulim-Sime on the payment, no more extra will gain. I wonder whether Kulim have received the cash from Sime Darby or not since no announcement on the actual RM income. The share is expected to drop probably to the range of RM3.10 to RM3.05 these few days, wish market prove me wrong. :)

Rest assure that it is very disadvantage for major shareholder to privatize it because it's main business is controlled by insurance Act. The regulation plan must subject to the approval of BNM, therefore can foresee that Bursa may extend another 3 months for MAA to get BNM approval.

MAA needs to spare RM100mil for Takaful family and RM100mil for Takaful General to comply with BNM takaful regulation. MAA needs to spare cash for operation as well for the Takaful in Malaysia and insurance in Philippine. The fund it has is too small to swallow any insurance company, therefore it all depend on Bursa to amend its old rules on PN17 or it been swallowed by other giant.

After making noises in the adjourned AGM, a Ex-cop been appointed as independent director of ICAP. Can TTB explain what is the expertise of a ex-cop can safeguard minority's interest in closed end fund? Now we know that non of the present board of directors has the extensive experiences in Closed End Fund. No body check and balance on the fund manager. So one might guess why TTB persistently object major shareholder City of London and Laxey Partner from being appointing expertise in Closed End Fund into ICAP?

The price can't moves up because it's PN17 status since fund manager can't buy it in this status. Therefore it provides the small share holder the opportunity to buy it cheap.

upon completion of the sale of NBPOL, the NA of Kulim will increase from RM2.96 (end 31st Dec 2013) to RM4.23. 44.29% of the new NA is cash, equivalent to RM1.87/share. So if you buy Kulim at RM3.50, your cost deduct cash is RM1.63 for other asset such as 51160 ha palm oil estate in johor including palm oil mill, to be listed EA Bhd share, Secret Garden and other companies. A bargain entering now?

If keep for Palm Oil estate, base on RM2500/ton CPO price, 1 acre probably can generate RM250/month. Presume one acre around RM1mil in Kota kemuning, the ROA is 3000/1,000,000 = 0.3% per year. Probably the most costliest to produce 1 ton FFB/acre in Malaysia.

Recent quarter income actually not bad to the previous only got huge bad debt which drawback the result. When OPR rate rise, loan interest raise 0.25% while fixed deposit increase 0.1%. A better next quarter profit is expected if no increasing bad debt.

As a shareholder, I always concern about the future of the company. Can the company grow in a sustainable way? If the cash cow keeps distributing large part of its profit to the major shareholder without considering the future of the company, the cash will drain out soon. Keep in mind that MAA still in the mid of regulate its biz plan to fulfill Bank Negara requirement to lift the PN17 status.
