Well, YourMotherInLaw, it would take some effort on one's part too, to increase one's income by leveraging on & riding on the country's increase in GDP & GNP ... Can't expect pennies to simply drop onto one's lap from heaven ...

Besides the fixed income from one's full-time job, the increased opportunities resulting from expanded national GDP & GNP could come in the form of free-lance or part-time work opportunities (e.g. work as consultant, service provider etc.), for instance, or from property investment, stock investment etc.

Not boasting, but just to provide an illustration, my income from playing NovaMSC in April & May alone already came to 32% of my expected full-time job income for 2015. Unfortunately, for June I earned nothing. TM's relentless 1mdb-related attacks on Ah Jib triggered our market collapse & completely put paid to my June prospects.

Anyway, I consider this as opportunities afforded by the country's increasing GDP & GNP, which creates and sustains our stock market activity, enabling folks like us to play, invest & make money.

Let's just say, just for talk's sake, that I'm currently earning 100k a year. If my country's GDP & GNP increase to such a level that enables me to earn 25% more, then my new income would be 125k a year.

But then I would not be spending all of that 125k, would I? If I had been getting by all this while, by spending only 70k a year, let's just say, I would be very likely be continuing to live at around the same standard, i.e. maybe spending 75k a year, even when I'm now earning 125k a year.

So, even assuming that all of that 75k now incurs 6% GST, the amount I hv to now pay for GST comes to only RM4,500 a year, whereas the 25% increase in my income comes to RM25,000 a year.

So, is GST good or bad? Well, just do the maths.

If market price 18, or maybe later 16, then still insist RI @20, who is going to buy RI?

Agreements can be rescheduled, to suit market conditions. This is something that all businessmen understand.

The important thing is to keep increasing the country's GDP & GNP, and thereby increase the opportunities for everybody to increase their income.

What is a new 6% tax to help one's country manage its finances better, if one now has the opportunity to increase one's income by 25%? This what is really important.
