AirAsia’s original operation in Malaysia continues to be one of the world’s most profitable carriers on a margin basis.
2013-08-23 16:09 | Report Abuse
AirAsia also reported on 21-Aug-2013 an improvement in operating profits at its Malaysian subsidiary, an indication that it also has not been significantly impacted by the launch of a third competitor on domestic trunk routes. AirAsia (Malaysia) turned an operating profit of MYR244 million (USD74 million) in 3Q2013, a 19% increase compared to with 2Q2013.
But the carrier's net profit dropped 62% to MYR58 million (USD18 million) driven by foreign currency losses and higher taxes. Revenues were also up only 5% to MYR1.246 billion (379 million)

bullbear 1. Folks, growth in seats were from both new aircraft deliveries and existing aircraft coming out of storage.
2. Daily AA flights cancellation suggesting that the airline is not generating enough passengers to operate their flights feasibly?
There are no aircraft in "storage" at AA!
And....i think for the 10th time...there are not the flight cancellations you wanna Show us...just look in the flightplan from AA and learn....but thats not what you want. You just want to write bad "News" nothing more :-)

Dont know what you want...the quater was 60% better than the same quater last year!
AAX makes a more seasonable Business than AA for example....mainly in the market of Australia. Ist like many european carriers, 2 quaters with losses and 2 with big earnings. You have to look at the whole year.

What Bullbear of course is not telling us:
And compare the quater to the 2th from last year:
Profit/(loss) for the period -32,303 -77,636
So last year in the 2th Q they had more than double than this year. And Q2 is Low Season.

25min turn is normal for lowcost Airlines around the world and no Problem for safety or something else.
2013-08-18 17:10 | Report Abuse
Yes but the main Problem there is the slotsituation in Manila. Clark is not really an alternative for Manila and anybody knows that. But Manila Airport is full! And without an possible growth there it makes not really sense to invest in this market from my Point of view. Many restrictions from the government...Cebu and PAL....maybe first grow in the 3 "homemarkets" plus India the next years.
Expecially in Thailand and Indonesia are a lot of opportunities to grow with a highyield Thai Airlines and a not very Quality Airline Lion Air in Indonesia.
2013-08-18 16:53 | Report Abuse
Yes...AA have, like nearly any big Airline, some backups at the big bases! Thats normal cause some technicals are normal from time to time.
But lets be honest.... i think Tony had some other minds with ZestAir like this....
The Phillippines are a very difficult market with a strong Cebu Pacific Air.

You have to look how strong the brand of AA for example here in Europe is! Anybody who wanna fly around in Southeastasia take AA! Lion is no choice because most People here know whats going on there. Many People ask me if im sure after i have booked Malindo to Kuching....but im an aviation Enthusiast who wanna try as much Airlines as possible.
You have a lot of tourists from Europe and the US travelling around in Thailand too...to the beaches in the south after visited Bangkok or to ChiangMai. The first choice for them is AA!

AirAsia X will become Australia’s fourth largest foreign carrier by the end of 2013 as it allocates nearly all of its additional capacity for the remainder of the year to the Australian market. The expansion will see the medium/long-haul low-cost carrier increase its Australian operation from 35 weekly flights currently to 54 weekly frequencies in Dec-2013.
AirAsia X in the process will overtake rival Malaysia Airlines (MAS) as well as Thai Airways and Cathay Pacific in the Australia international seat capacity ranking. Only three foreign carriers – Emirates, Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Air New Zealand (ANZ) – will offer more seats in Australia in Dec-2013.
The expansion is made possible by a new air services agreement between Malaysia and Australia which increased total capacity to Australia’s four main cities by 40%. AirAsia X plans to continue to pursue expansion in Australia in 2014 and beyond, with more flights from Kuala Lumpur and new services from its planned second base at Bangkok.

Indonesia AirAsia saw a 1% increase in its load factor y-o-y to 79%. Passengers carried was up by 33% to 1.9 million, in line with the capacity increase of 32%. The growth was boosted by the introduction of three new routes: Medan-Jakarta, Surabaya-Singapore and Jakarta-Johor Bahru, as well as increases in seven other routes.
Indonesia AirAsia received two aircraft in the quarter under review, bringing its total fleet to 24 now.
