It is very weak argument to based the poor results of one company from an entirely different industry to generalize.
Please tell us why oil palm companies will not do well in Q3 and even next qtr .

@aliyusof, Surin’s ‘ more intimate touch’ on MPHB yet to create some spark after so long . The irony is a 18.4% maiden touch on Transocean enough to create euphoria and drove its share price to $3.75 which is a 330% ytd gains. It’s more insulting if you look into Transocean’s financial.
Per 31/6/21 qtr report, Transocean has the following numbers:
Revenue 1H 21. $9.3 m
Profit 1 H 21. $117k
EPS 0.26 sen
NA. $0.81
Accumulated loss $18 m
Shareholders’’ equity $38.3 m
Mkt capitalization based on today’s price $$169 m ( which is 4.4 times of shareholders equity)
I am speechless.
Hope there will be similar euphoria once insurance sales is completed and/or new high impact business announced and/or a generous dividend is announced and/or privatization.

Both Public Investment and CGS-CIMB set a "neutral" call on the plantation sector.
Maybank Kim Eng, however, set a "positive" call on the sector.
"CPO price will stay relatively lofty till the first quarter of 2022 on supply concerns as the industry is likely to enter into low production cycle for the next three months.
"Given better-than-expected CPO average selling price (ASP) in recent months, we now raise our 2021 CPO ASP forecast to RM4,300 per tonne (from RM3,500 per tonne), and 2022 ASP to RM3,200 per tonne (from RM2,800 per tonne)," Maybank Kim Eng said in a note on Thursday.

Correction: CPO for Nov actually closed up $140

CPO for Nov closed up $140 instead of $119 I mentioned earlier.
2021-11-10 18:23 | Report Abuse
CCWONG, I fully agree with you that the strong fundamentals of CPO remain intact.
Although Oct closing stock went up 4.42% to 1.83 mil MT, the inventory is merely 1.2 month buffer ((1.83/18.0)x12 ) which is very low for a food, industrial and biofuel products. The ‘comfortable’ inventory level may be about 3 to 3.2 mil mt in order to safely meeting the growing usage as edible oil and renewable biofuels .
Seasonally low production period start this month until March 2022. The closing inventory until March 2022 or beyond likely to stay tight and thus support CPO price at high level for awhile. This probably explains why CPO price for Nov went up $119 despite 4.42% increase in inventory.
Fund managers and Analysts may continue to forecast higher production/stock into 2022 and hence forecast substantially lower CPO in next year (anyway, they have never got it right in the past 12 months). I think they will get it wrong again.
Overall CPO production next year will still be about the same as this year. Because of MCOs (hampering delivery of fertilizer) and labour shortage , fertilizer application this year is seriously delayed and shall adversely affect FFB yield next year . Field upkeep is not up to the mark .
Labour shortage will still be a problem with covid resurgence as high risk . Fertilizer application for 1H next year will face another setback due to extremely tight supply of certain essential fertilizer from China. Under such scenarios, how can the palms yield more next year ?? I have my reservations.
