If he wants to be the PM, that is his job and not any of us whether we are B40, M40 or T20 or T15 or T10 or whatever. Why push the responsibility to others? There are so many things he can do to help the poors. Abolish all APs or put all collected monies into a poor people fund. Cut down on number of Govt staff and allowances and tea breaks. Cut down number of ministers and supporting staff.Cut allowances etc for all MPs. Conduct all open tenders for all procurements. Remove all barriers for investments for locals and foreigners, eg 30% requirements, bumi discounts for properties. There so many things he can do, yet he always pick on "unreasonable" policies and try to cause friction among the rakyat.

The budget didnt address cost of living and inflation. Basically what they are doing is not controlling it, but making it higher salaries and cash handouts . There so many ways they can control the prices. 1. Abolish all APs for imported food. 2. Abolish monopoly of rice imports. Abolish all APs for imported vehicles. 4. Open tenders for all government's procurements. 5. Roadmap to reduce number of ministers and government servants in next 3 years. 6. Get all parties involved in affordable housing to bear the pains too, cement and steel suppliers at cost, bank financing at 2%, no development charges , building materials at cost and designated all new apartments at MRT3's new stations as affordable homes only.

It would be better to cut all subsidies for RON95.Then B40, M40 and T20 that think they qualify for monthly cash support, apply for it , like in diesel case. Its better for people to apply for the cash handout, than Raja Formula trying to figure out who is T20 and who is foreigner and who is very rich .If they can give Rahmah cash too, they would have the datas. By "bashing the 15% T20 and foreigners", they are trying to score political points times and times again and pitting 'us" and "them" constantly.

"Formula King" said there will be 2 tier pricings. I can't imagine the headaches the petrol station owners will face and also retirees will scream if they dont get subsidised RON95, after contributing taxes their whole life working. Govt should abolish APs and reduce car taxes and rakyat pay lower for cars and thus will not scream at higher RON95 price. If you pay RM300pm for petrol, you probably will pay RM450pm ( assuming RON95 is 50% higher). RM150 more per month is better than paying ten or hundred of thousands more for cars due to APs and high car taxes. APs are given to individuals who probably are very rich and dont mind full RON95 price. PMX is "penalising" million of poors to please the few APs "beneficiaries".

PMX gives exemptions to EPF, ASB, PNB etc. What does that tell you except it is a "votes buying" policy? He want to show he is against one group and siding with the other group, which is not supporting him now.

When the Govt launched the Iskandar region decades ago, they also gave many so-called incentives, like 15% income taxes etc but it did'nt really kicked off as the people handing it are just not good enough and there were not enough co-operation between state and Federal governments. For example, if you have a factory then in Penang, you wont enjoy the 15% tax if you want to set up a plant in Iskandar. Its just a show to play on Johor properties then and many were stuck. Hopefully now with the King from Johor, a proper and clear policy and plan is in place and do not disappoint any investors again.

GST is the best tax any Govt can implement. Our main problem, which many so-called tax experts didnt know is we have 3 categories of GST, zero, exempt and standard rates. Thats makes input taxes calculation so complex that most gave up unless you are big companies and can hire additional staff to handle it.So, most companies just add all the GST paid to their products instead of calculating the right input taxes to claim back from Custom. The solution is just have one standard rate and all your input taxes just deduct from your GST payable to arrive at net GST. For the poor, the Govt can continue to pay them monthly allowances , like what they are doing with diesel. The govt should also reduces all taxes for vehicles dramatically ( we have probably the highest vehicles' taxes in the developing countries) but gives no more subsidies for petrol. Then it becomes an operating expenses for vehicles' owners instead of capital expenditures upfront. You then borrow less for vehicles and keep your cash for other purposes, like pumping in petrol.

Why assumed all Chineses are DAP supporters? They have their rights not to vote if they do not agreed with what were served on the plate. The few past elections have been who most voters hated the most, then their votes go to the opposite sides. If you remembered, there was once in Kelana Jaya and that guy cant even speak proper BM, yet he won as PKR candidate.Next election, he was gone. MM won because voters hated Ah Jib, not because they liked him entirely. The Chineses have no choices, they wont vote for PAS or party associated with it, so they are stuck with the opposite side. Most important is can this Govt put food or better food on the table. Thats something each reader can only answer

You look at the havoc at MAS.Last year, cancelled caterer without a good contingency plan in place and asked passengers to bring own food onboard. Now cancel flights without telling passengers how they choose which flight to cancel or reschedule.Just expect passengers to accept nonsense without monetary compensation for time and costs incurred (eg additional hotel stays, food etc). This is the kind of best of the worst management (mentioned by speakup) and you can find it in some many of them.My flight is cancelled and I can tell you its poor poor management , no responsibility, no sincere apologies and no monetary compensation to soothe passengers' anger etc as all MAS's coming losses borne by Khazanah, and effectively all taxpayers. The top management should be stripped of all salaries for 2024.

Its obvious that the actual earnings are not the main draw. If you see, read and watch the antics of politicians not chosen to contest in state and/or federal elections, you have this feeling that they are not there to serve but to earn much much more when elected. In UK, nobody want to be PM or MP hungrily and desperately.Same in many countries . Here, it is like ticket to heaven.

The Govt is already bloated and there are many deadwoods. Even in DBKL, you can see 2-3 person doing simple maintaineance works and yet 10 will arrive in few pickups! If you have a budget of RM1M pm and you have 500 staff, each get RM2,000 pm. But if the staff are hardworking and efficient, you probably need only 250 staff and each gets RM4,000, which is double salary. Isn't that what the Govt should target as I don't see how the cost of living will go down? On top of that, petrol subsidies withdrawal will happen soon. The Govt has too many tea breaks and long lunches, thus cutting these will increase real working hours and thus less manpower needed. The Govt salaries and pensions are taking a big chunk of the Budget and we have been running deficits for years. Its time to address the issues at root rather than applying band aids everywhere.

Most of the private sector are already paying well above RM2,000 as it is hard to get talented staff. An accounting graduate going to any of the big 4 audit firms is already offered starting pay of RM4,000pm. There is no point for the Minister to "force" private sector to increase the minimum salary as market forces will dictate the salaries and companies will always pay more to hire talented and important staff. Let it be a free market in the private sector, we dont have places for deadwoods.

I dont think the bright ones will apply and they are probably on scholarships ( especially for them) and have jobs waiting for them at GLCs at much higher salaries. Those who apply are likely those who have graduated from perceived lower standard local universities ( like one which insists no NMs but accepts foreigners) and cannot get a job in the private sector due to stiff competition from the NMs.I have met many UiTM graduates working as waiting staff while trying to get a job related to their degrees.I applauded them for taking the initiatives to earn some money in any jobs but it will be tough getting the preferred jobs.

As a politician, he is only giving one side of the story that he feels will give him political mileage. On the flip side, Govt has to find more money thru more and new taxes. On top of new salaries, Govt also have to pay more pensions. This may widen the budget deficit (unless it imposes more taxes and can cut down on corruption and wastages and redundancies). Lets see how it will boost the economy as some of the Govt's servants already have negative take home pays every month. If you read RCE Capital's ( which focus on lending to Govt's servants) announcement this week, it has to write off millions of receivables from its customers.

The irony is that the govt collects taxes from breweries, pork producers, alcohol importers etc too. Why not allocate all these taxes for the NM's events, schools etc? Then we won't have issue of antogonising the Muslims. This can only confirm that politicans are raising these issues as political issues and not in the interest of the country. I love my country but I can't say the same about politicians.

If you need or have a maid, did you get an Indonesian maid ( or Filipino) because they are cheaper or you can't find local maids? Dont forget the huge lump sum you have to fork out too. Many locals' productivity are low as we have many subsidies and free distribution from Govt, there is not much competition. Even trying to get NM into UiTM became big issue but don't they know that then businesses do not think highly of those from that Uni bcos of not much competition to excel? The Govt should start by cutting down its workforce and no more breaks, just lunch and works 8am to 5pm weekdays .Those who can cope get higher pay , those who cannot should be let go like in private sector. Its the same down south, Singaporeans said Malaysians from JB are paid lowly and take away jobs from them but the Malaysians are happy with the "low" pay, so we cannot blamed the foreigners in Malaysia or their employers.

Goes to show it is all political and rues to please the foreign investors and international community. A staggered increase would have save face for them and less burden for rakyat but the "Bapak Formula" never got it right anyway.

This "Bapak Formula" didnt surprised all with the diesel. The fact that they said the 1st "Mana Ini" payment of RM200 starts on 10June gave it all away. He think too highly of himself, self praise. Just admit it that it was a blunder to jump to RM3.50/litre , especially the Govt backpedal and now considering giving subsidies to almost all who use diesel. So, to think he can come up with a win win for all for RON95, he is spitting up in the air. I await his "smart" surprise.

If PMX focus on our economy instead of politics, our RM would not be where it is today. Save diesel subsidies and spent the RM4B on those who may not even want to vote for him GE15, instead of reducing the budget deficit, how can RM strengthen? On top of that, there is another RM11B he promised the Govt servants in Dec24, it looked like fast track of increasing price of RON95. Then RM will probably be badly affected.

Shouldn't that be what the State Govt should be explaining instead of the successful negotiated tenderer? DAP used to criticise all direct contracts , why now openly keeping quiet?
2024-05-29 12:55 | Report Abuse
I think the response by that company , instead of the State Govt, makes it worst. I failed to see its rationale that an open tender will create a monopoly in Selangor. In an open tender, there wont be only 2 companies to bid for it if the contract is lucrative. We have so many rides app ( like Grab, AirAsiaMove etc) that can also provide the first and last miles public transport services. Rapid Bus is already providing such services for MRT. So, it is not a concept that only 2 companies in Msia that can provide them. Avoiding an open tender basically implied that there are more than 2 companies and will reduces the tender price they are submitting. The State Govt should call for an open tender once and for all.

I dont mind the removal of subsidies but they must also reduces the sales and exercise duties as we are already paying among the highest in the developing countries for our cars. We also have among the biggest cabinet in the developing world and we also have so many bloated workforce in GLCs etc. Govt must be seen to be thrifty and clean if they want the rakyat to buy their "story", otherwise it is just more money not well spent on rakyat.

Just because he speaks, doesn't mean what he say makes no sense. I agreed with his explanations and there are so many hurdles for SMEs to clear, when Govt should be making it easy for them to focus on businesses instead scared of being fined for unintentional omissions or wrong invoices.

If they are paying RM200 in mid June, then expect diesel to go full price 1 June24. I dont think RM200 is sufficient as most of the big vehicles use diesel and there are so many conditions attached. Expect pick ups to suffer in sales unless all sapu by Sabah and Sarawak people.
2024-05-24 12:18 | Report Abuse
Then Govt should also reduces sales and exercise duties on vehicles to assist the rakyat. That's why our vehicles' prices are much higher than developed countries, and to compensate that, the prices of petrol and diesel are subsidised by the Govt. I also read that Govt won't impose this in Sabah and Sarawak as most people use diesel vehicles. Then the Govt should charge unsubsidised petrol prices there to be fair to Peninsula residents.

Better students will enhance the reputation of any university and the marketability of its students. That's why once you graduate from Harvard or Sanford, the employers know they cant go wrong ( not100%) with that student. In the same breath, if an university do not want to improve , the end result is the availability of jobs opening for them once they graduate. Imagine if you are an employer, which graduate will you employ if you are too choose between this Uni and University Malaya ?The Govt should push for it as it benefits the country and the graduates in the long run unless they just want to make political decisions.
