Taking a median price of say 58 sen, this would mean that he would have lost a cool RM5,423,174 in the span of less than 3 months! Ooouch....

Surprisingly, he sold at prices ranging from 65 sen to 50sen since 7/8/2014 in the open market even though the private placement issue price he paid was RM1

The private placee, Xie Zhidong, cut his private placement block from 30,733,000 Xinquan shares to only 21,382,700 shares, a net disposal of 30.42% of what he used to have!

To make the matter worse, another fund manager, Kas Bank Effectenbewaarbedri from The Netherland cut its holdings in Xinquan from 4,472,943 shares to only 1,285,843 shares, a 71% disposal of what they used to have.

What is worrying is the fact the Bank of New York Mellon trimmed its holdings in Xinquan drastically from 22,398,031 shares to 17,319,400 shares, a disposal of 5,078,631 shares or 1.62% from 2013. And the trend is continuing because they are still selling through HSBC

As a matter of fact, KYY has 25,700,800 Xinquan shares in 2013 through himself, Koon Cze Yan and Yap Sung Pang. But he only has 25,252,300 shares in 2014 and he disposed off 448,500 in 2014

If you look at Mr Koon's wealth, you should realize that he is not a one trick pony. He may have some dry spells currently, rsawit is a bad call, Jtiasa is not such a good company and his investment in Xinquan is disastrous, and typical of a person who is over-confidence. However, do not doubt his ability to recover. He has done it again and again and he will do it again. With so much experience in business and investment, not that many people has such a good business acumen. Currently he may be making mistakes after mistakes because some of his fundamental assumptions may be flawed, and that will just happen to everyone. He has proven again and again in the past that given time, he will come back with a vengeance.
We should take his mistakes as a lesson.

Mr. Koon is a kind hearted man and well respected in my hometown. In business, some time you made mistake. Lets only judge a man whether he is successful or not, not by how many mistakes he made but by the number of successful feats he has done. Net net, more successes than failures, that mean you are on track!

2014-11-26 23:26 | Report Abuse
The stock velocity scenario probably explains why SS661M made more money in Hevea than his Latitud or Homeriz, simply because one can "easily" get in or out in a stock without much premium or discount
2014-11-26 23:22 | Report Abuse
And if you do "stuck" with a stock with big holdings, the only thing you can do is to sell at multiple bids lower just to get out. That means weaken shares price to recoup your cash
2014-11-26 23:21 | Report Abuse
Hevea's 200-day average trading volumes is 732,110 shares, Homeriz 89,230 shares and Latitud 93,125 shares. For stock traders, the velocity of a stock is as important as the fundamentals of a company. I am sure you do not want to get "stuck" with a big holdings in a stock that you cannot easily dispose to the open market, right?

Other furniture stocks like Latitud or Homeriz may be as good as Hevea if not better, but the duo lack market volume in their shares performance.

2014-11-26 23:12 | Report Abuse
At today closing shares price of $1.73, the forward PE is only 4.98x. Given an undemanding PER of say 7 times forward earning, that will be $2.42 by Feb 2015

Q4/13 Hevea made EPS 10.64 sen or a net profit of $9.6m. Traditionally Q4 is the strongest quarter for Hevea. I won't be surprise to see the Q4/14 in the region of $13m or EPS 13 sen, thus giving a full year EPS of 34.69 sen.

@dlsh2, do not look at things on the surface only. Please note Xie Zhidong also received close to 15m WA because of the free warrants issued on the 1:2 basis. This itself is already worth a few million ringgit

Hulk, I see that you read the fine lines. Yes, only $4m out of the PP is used to repay the bank borrowing, as the outstanding is already so little. The resumption of paying a 2% dividend this Friday is the loudest indicator to the market that whatever balance outstanding bank loan is so negligible now.
