KLCI Futures could be the best option available to hedge the portfolio. It just costs a small amount of trading fees. The problem is how much pressure can we take in this volatile market. I trade both Futures and put warrant that making me more comfortable. Some Put warrants premium are extremely high especially HG, HJ. It doesn't really worthwhile to hedge a portfolio.

If I am not mistaken, FBMKLCI-HE would provide a balance between risks and rewards. When KLCI drop below 1,600, the rewards from this put warrant is higher than Futures.

Optimuss got his points in trading futures rather than picking FBMKLCI-HB at this moment. At this price FBMKLCI-HB premium is actually rather high. Risks and rewards is not justified unless market mispricing due to heavy speculation. In fact, we can comparing the returns between Futures and FBMKLCI-HB if KLCI drop to 1600 .

Funds have been manipulating KLCI so that they are able to sell second liners at higher prices.

Without the support of crude oil, CPO and timber Msia has nothing to shout about.

Optimuss. I understand Foreign funds is not big enough but they are able to create sell down crashing confidence of the other investors. They would probably work together with rating agency to make a havoc to the market.

Optimuss. Don't be too optimistic over KLCI. There are many counters traded above PER 20 times even though its earnings trending downward consecutively in the past few quarters. In average, KLCI trades slightly above PER 16 times. If you take a full analysis of 30 counters, you may understand more of our situation. wakaka.

If RM stays at this level on 31 Jan 15, SKPetrol would suffer a forex loss at least RM 450 million on its USD borrowing in coming quarter. Quarterly revenue about US 700 million is negligible to hedge against USD borrowing RM 12.485 billion.

When comparing with last year 4th qtr 13, property division external revenue dropped by 15% and Profit of property slashed 85%. Potential forex gain from strengthening Rupiah against RM would be offset by loss in depreciation of RM against USD by 6.5% on its USD borrowing.

MKH was not doing well in 4th qtr 2014. If you exclude fair value gain on property RM 22.2 million, profit after tax would be RM 5.5 million (EPS 1.31 cents)only. Its property division registered a slump in profit of 85% comparing with last year.
