One funny statement in last year`s annual report. Follows UK law the YTLP still have to continue providing water to all the defaulters. Like that cham loh tariff increase also cannot cover the impairment write off.
As at 30 June 2023, trade receivables of the water and sewerage segment amounted to RM524.9 million, net of expected credit losses charges of RM307.4 million. As this segment operates in the United Kingdom (“UK”), there is a statutory requirement to continue to provide water to all customers who has defaulted in payment. Therefore, the Group has estimated the expected credit losses of trade receivables on a portfolio basis for the year based on the historical cash collection trends and economic trends, which are subjective in nature.
