Polis semalam menyerbu sebuah restoran di Bukit Mertajam, Pulau PInang kerana didakwa memaparkan imej pemimpin komunis.

Pada masa yang sama seorang pemimpin Umno mendakwa perbuatan itu membuktikan ideologi berkenaan kini berkembang di Pulau Pinang.

Bercakap kepada Malaysiakini, pemilik restoran yang hanya mahu dikenali sebagai Joey, mengakui karya seni itu menyerupai poster propaganda komunis, namun menegaskan tulisannya bukan mempromosikan komunisme.

Sebaliknya, Joey itu berkata, tulisan Cina yang dipaparkan adalah slogan humor mengenai masakan.

"Tulisan ini bukan mengenai mempromosikan komunisme, bahkan tidak menyentuh topik komunisme. Isinya adalah mengenai makanan dan restoran kami," kata pemilik restoran berusia 35 tahun itu.

Di antara slogan tersebut berbunyi: "Selamat datang tetamu yang dikasihi. Rasanya hebat! Saya sangat menyukainya. Silakan datang lagi, tetamu yang dikasihi,".
