The Group’s revenue of RM172.5 million for the current period ended 30 June 2020 was RM8.5 million (5.2%) higher than that achieved in the preceding year corresponding period mainly contributed by our subsidiary in Taiwan. The performance would have been better but for the indirect impact from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Against the same period last year, the PBT for the Group increased by RM7.0 million (15.3%) as a result of improved revenue and vigilance in cost management.

The Group’s revenue for the current quarter ended 30 June 2020 increased by approximately RM7.5 million (9.3%) compared to the preceding year corresponding quarter mainly contributed by our subsidiary in Taiwan. This was mainly due to the positive growth of the semi-conductor business. However, slowdown in our customers’ business in the oil and gas sector resulted in a drop in business for the Group’s oil and gas subsidiaries in Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. In addition, the Movement Control Order (“MCO”) implemented by the Malaysian Government due to the COVID-19 pandemic had resulted in some disruption in our operations in Malaysia and to a lesser degree, our oil and gas business in Singapore and the Philippines.
The Group’s profit before tax (“PBT”) of RM27.9 million for the current quarter was RM4.8 million or 20.8% higher than the corresponding quarter’s RM23.1 million. The higher profit was mainly due to improved revenue and better profit margin resulting from the continual efforts to improve efficiency across the Group. This was our historical best quarter performance even with the global slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“And later, when asked if Intel would be willing to outsource more of its manufacturing work to foundries (such as TSMC) in light of its 7nm setback, Swan didn't rule out the possibility.” I quote this from https://realmoney.thestreet.com/investing/technology/intel-s-manufacturing-setback-must-be-music-to-amd-and-tsmc-s-ears-15381322 titled “Intel's Manufacturing Setback Must Be Music to AMD and TSMC's Ears”

Dpharma has a steady revenue over the years prior to pandemic. The ups and downs in the dpharma stock price was only reflects on the market emotion only. They are fundamentally sound company. Their profit margin converging previously was mainly due to the forex loss. With ringgit now opening higher against usd, we can see the margin will increases over the pandemic. Just my opinion. Tq

If its down let be it, because once the vaccine is available, it will gap up every now and then. That time u wont see the price today. Thats how u make money..now people just down a few, u sell..just up a few, u sell..haiya

The global demand for semiconductors, which remains strong in the long term, will continue to grow. According to IHS Markit, the deployment of 5G will be the main factor propelling a recovery for the semiconductor industry from the significant downturn in 2019, not only because of the renewed growth it will bring to the wireless industry, but also due to the wider benefits the wireless technology will bestow on global businesses and economies. IHS Markit further highlighted that the market in 2020 will be driven by two significant factors: one, the return to growth for global server expansion, and two, the introduction of 5G handsets. The Group believes that these developments in the electronic and technology space will be positive for our semiconductor business for years to come..i quote this from their QR4 2019

Frontken revenue is growing..i can see why not we hold this company for its long term prospect, especially its involvement in 5G. I bought this stock at 50c when we all were talking about its prospect with tsmc. I can see more upside as our technology is advancing

Some experts suspected that algorithmic trading activities could be at play. Algorithmic trading is a method of executing orders using automated pre-programmed trading instructions that account for variables such as time, price, and volume.
Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd head of research Loui Low did not rule out the possibility that algorithmic trading activities could be involved.
Another possibility, he believed, could be that the glove counters had triggered the stop limit for various investors and brokers. I quote this from the edge market

In Malaysia, the cases are easing. But demand for glove is still there. I think if no vaccine yet to be found, the uptrend can still go up to two years

This is just my opinion, we have to see how ng wai going to tell about this. Because i think the semicon business is not all about 1 1=2..its rather complex.
2020-05-15 19:55 | Report Abuse
@newbie8080 there are many factors come into play. One of them might be because of increasing demand since we all know tsmc is the largest semicon globally. Unless of u think that tsmc would split its orders into two regions, while the demand is still the same, tsmc might be going in the wrong way which i think they are not. My take is that whenever tsmc keeps growing its business, we know that frontken has made a great deal of businwss with tsmc when they made an agreement to supply for them. And FYI, frontken EV/EBITDA is still highly undervalued

It depends on your risk management. Considering all the risk u would take, how much u are willing to buy? My risk and yours arent the same. Some factors i would consider, firstly because it is still in uptrend. Then i would check the company financial stability. Then can go to see its prospect, is this company still has a potential to grow? Consider the sector performance and the supply chain impact of the covid. But i am anticipating 5G roll out by end of this year will give a huge boost to the company topline. Then how much it will drop u never know. But considering how my view on this company, i would take the risk to accumulate more if the price drops below 10%, and accumulate little when the price drops within 10%. One thing for sure, nvest at your own risk. Dont follow blindly what people told, as some of them might try to con u.

I am new to powerwell..may i know what drives the price further? Last time i heard they were eying on ecrl and mrt project. My view is that these kind of projects initiation might be hindered by the impact of covid. Eventhough the construction sector itself might be one of many that might hardly impacted by covid, transportation demand itself might not be a priority in a short to mid term as the economically might take at least 2-3 years to recover

Previously, our government said to roll out 5G in the second half of 2020..especially when the demand of wfh is on the rise, i think once the good news comes out, this stock will be flying again. Whatever the price it is now, it is surely attractive one. Only if u dont have enough money to average down, just focus on the short term. Because the economic impact or covid is still unclear.

The Group recorded a remarkable second quarter and first half results with a 20.8% and 15.3% increase respectively in its PBT compared to the preceding year corresponding period mainly attributable to the positive growth in our semi-conductor business. Looking forward, the Group is seeing advancement and deployment of new innovative technologies following from the roll-out of 5G globally and we believe these developments in the electronic and technology space will be positive for our business. Nevertheless, the Group anticipates that the overall business conditions for the remaining 6 months period in 2020 will continue to be uncertain amidst global uncertainties and downside risks due to heightened concerns over the impact of the potential second wave from COVID-19 on the world economy.
As for the oil and gas industry, we notice that new orders are trickling in from the various umbrella contracts for provision of manpower supply and also mechanical rotating equipment services and parts that we have with from the Petronas Group of Companies. We hope this momentum will pick up further during the second half of this year. Having said that, global oil demand and the COVID-19 pandemic will all remain a key source of risk to the current outlook.
While the Group anticipates that the overall business conditions in the remaining two quarters of the current financial year to remain uncertain, we are cautiously optimistic that our performance for the remaining months will be satisfactory.
