Just a reminder, Affin will be added to MSCI Index 30th Nov. The REAL journey hasn't started yet.

MSCI Indexes have the power to change the market. When an index is rebalanced, all the ETFs and mutual funds that track it must buy and sell the same stocks. Stocks that are added to the index usually find their share prices rising. The opposite happens to stocks that are dropped from an index.

According to Bloomberg, among seven analysts who track Affin Bank, six have a "buy" call on the stock, while one gives a "hold" recommendation, with an average 12-month target price of RM2.64.
In other words, we are no where near the target yet.

@TheContrarian: not so fast. Did you forget the entrance of Affin into MCSI index on 30 Nov? There will be hungry buyers for those sellers.

@kitmanworld, The book value for Affin is 4.66 per share. The stock is worth much more than current price.

@TheContrarian, That's where I disagree with you.. Affin has bigger potential after the dividend, don't you agree? I think everyone is looking past the dividend.

TheContrarian: 2.5 million shares have been sold and the price is still holding up means alot. EPF is a distress seller and buyers are bargain hunters. Once the distress seller stops selling, guess where the price would go?

Investors! Keep Affin for the long haul. In my opinion It's not for sale below 3.

Seems there are lots of vultures awaiting to buy a dying Affin. To no avail.

Latest Kenanga research states expected 2023 Book value per share is around 5.07.

To all the doubters, the purchase of Affin CEO of Affin shares (at these prices) should be A huge boost of confidence in the share. Rm3 shouldn't be impossible within 12 months.

@TheContrarian, The bigger banks didn't tick all the boxes I mentioned above, at the time. I was looking for higher potential.

@Jonathan Keung, it ticks so many boxes:
1- A bank
2- Islamic
3- Backed by a strong institution ( Malaysia Army I think)
4- Profitable
6- Potential for takeover with a strong book value (more than double the last time I checked).

@TheContrarian, I am a Saudi Arabian currently living in London. I've been buying Affin since 2014.

@redhotpepper: i read it somewhere and I could always be wrong as I am not in the midst of the market in Malaysia and I don't speak Malay. Seems you're still sour when I was right about the "resistance" comment and the fact the share price shot from 1.86 a month ago to 2.05 today. If you want to be grumpy, by all means be grumpy, but with someone else.

50 cent per share special dividend will be declared some time in the near future. I think the price will gradually rise towards then.

I would like to see the price lower, so I can get reinvestment price lower. I BELIEVE IN THE LONG TERM POTENTIAL, NOT SHORT TERM.

It's nice to see the largest stakeholder (LTAT) advocating hard for the interest of all shareholders, including us. I personally am not looking to receive cash, but to reinvest. Can anyone guess the price of the share reinvestment from div proceeds?

A fair price in my opinion is 2.50. The potential to reach 3 within 1 year is not impossible
