PUTRAJAYA (May 27): Datasonic Group Bhd's independent non-executive chairman General (Rtd) Tan Sri Dr Mohamed Hashim Mohd Ali has confirmed a report by The Edge Malaysia that the company was eyeing to purchase the government-owned Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Bhd (PNMB).

Mohamed Hashim said he believed Datasonic had the expertise and capabilities to value-add to PNMB, which produces identity cards for foreigners, dubbed the i-Kad.

"Yes, the report (by The Edge) is true. We are very serious in wanting to take over PNMB. Currently, we are still waiting for the government to announce its decision," Mohamed Hashim told reporters after Datasonic's AGM here today.

He said agencies working to plug loopholes in the subsidised fuel distribution system were fine-tuning a few mechanisms.
They included a quota system, which would require vehicles to be registered to a system that is linked to the Road Transport Department and the National Registration Department.
A monthly quota of between 300 and 500 litres of fuel for every registered individual and commercial vehicles would be set. Vehicles requiring more than the amount were free to top up, but the extra fuel would not be subsidised.
The kiosk system at all 3,600 petrol stations nationwide would need to be recalibrated for this purpose.

The government has planned to launch a new subsidy for diesel and petrol by October this year!!
The new system allowing certain groups of people, for example those earning less than RM5,000 a month, to purchase not more than 200 litres of subsidized diesel every month. All who wish to purchase diesel are also required to produce MyKad.

Pav, dsonic 2013 should hand up 10m psc IC, but it only able to pass 6m pcs, by the way it should continue rush out 4m in 2014 1Q, cos contract 2013 qty is not finish yet! I dont think the outstanding 4m also need new contract.

KUALA LUMPUR: DATASONIC S Bhd is among the 10 new additions to the MSCI Global Small Cap Indexes under the MSCI Malaysia Index which will take effect from May 30.

MSCI Inc. said in a statement issued out of Geneva late Wednesday the other inclusions were Axis Real Estate Investment Trust, Berjaya Auto Bhd, Datasonic Group Bhd, DKSH Holdings (Malaysia) Bhd, Inari Amerton Bhd, Jaya Tiasa Holdings Bhd, Karex Bhd, Parkson Bhd and Scomi Energy Services Bhd.
