news reported LTAT already in talks to sell their plantation and/or petrol stations . if succeed i think either those two big transactions will sustain them for quite some time after pare down their debt. If i were them i would keep affin unless the offer is too attractive to ignore, they need to invest in something sustainable which affin fits in. like said, i wish it will be sold at nice valuations. :)

Do you guys know that once upon a time ago, Boustead Holdings a diversified conglomerate (finance, plantation, pharmaceutical, property, trading etc ) used to consistently pay high dividend while having a high gearing ? Not same but you know what i mean...

if you were the chief investment officer in EPF, and were instructed by the Prime Minister to increase your share investment in Malaysia , where would you look into? :)

maybe Alliance takeover Affin? :) the singapore bank being super cash rich is known to love spreading their wings all over SEA. and both are small and need to merge to be more competitive.

https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/672137 kenanga thinks AmBank is the next bank to be part of some M&A activity. i think so too for it being the most likely candidate as its made known that ANZ want to divest their investment in Malaysia. What are the probability you guys think Affin will ever be some takeover target since Affin is so small? Being Affin shareholders, of course I'm just hoping.

"... Boustead Holdings is believed to be preparing to dispose of its interest in BPlant and had invited proposals on the sale of its stake two weeks ago.
The Edge had learnt that some of the big names bidding for the stake included YTL Group, Wilmar International Bhd, IOI Corp Bhd and Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd — all of whom are already big players in the plantation industry, except for YTL. " https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/671836

sold at 50% profit. i know i'll regret it as always. just like ytlpower. u guys should wait. :) Anyway what's so special about UBS being the new shareholder? "Disclosure triggered due to the legal closing of the merger between UBS Group AG and Credit Suisse Group AG and the aggregation of the relevant interest of both companies as upon closing Credit Suisse Group AG ceased to exist and UBS Group AG was the surviving entity." It's a known public info that previously HSBC NOMINEES ASING SDN BHD – CREDIT SUISSE HONG KONG LIMITED held 506,561,781 shares on record dated 22 Sep 2022. Now the merged entity triggered the 5% disclosure threshold.

maybe they should merge with other small banks like MBSB, BIMB, Alliance Bank, Bank Muamalat . Too small to compete with those big boys. Or those big boys come makan (takeover) these little boys. :P

@DividendGuy67. Bank Islam Holdings undergone a demerger process in 2021 by way of distribution via reduction and repayment to shareholders . Takaful's arm now fully separate. I think BIMB shares is not all time low yet or that very low as you claimed if you factor that in. Correct? I'm not that 100% sure.

hapseng still trades at a premium to its net asset value. maybe that's why those short sellers so big balls to bet against it? i would never dare to short, but also agree that when it's downtrend ... it is always downTREND... No one will know the bottom.

Among all the public listed local banks (Alliance, AmBank, Affin, CIMB, Hong Leong, Maybank, Public Bank, RHB), is it fair to say BIMB is the worst managed bank? Very incompetent management RELATIVELY to the other banks. Fair or unfair statement?

"The revenue of the Group for the current quarter of RM165.167 million was 25.9% higher than RM131.235 million recorded in the corresponding quarter in the preceding year and was mainly due to higher average selling prices and higher quantities of products sold. However, the Group's profit before tax decreased by 15.8% to RM14.363 million from RM17.054 million and was mainly a result of higher main raw materials costs in the current quarter under review" POSITIVE : growth is strong... revenue increasing every year. NEGATIVE : costs gone higher (inflation) affecting its profit margin. Any investors that like the growth narrative should invest in this company.

i find that their store n branding cannot compete with Happy Mart , Family Mart, 7 Eleven. at first i think that's just me. every individual has different taste. but when asked my friends, all view the same. But in Malaysia where 70% of population is Malay, you want to target the Malay appetite .. like TeaLive.. I guess they need to rebrand their MyNews . Even near my place , CU.... i find it can't compete with its competitors. Will this retail share price become like another Parkson?
