All these expressways and greenlight and lockdowns, people wont allow it to end abruptly, not before they can earn money. Some big fishes poured money into defensive product like gloves, some poured into vaccine making, if everyone in a community takes vaccine, until a point near everyone taking vaccine, herd immunity may establish then covid might really get wiped out. So either vaccine will have a supply problem, or, vaccine releases to make people less miserable when they are infected. People still get sick but they wont die, still need medication which can give them second round income, and they can still work to keep economy rolling and probably go around to infect others.

if you pay attention, one-time-settle vaccine... is VERY RARE nowadays.. unlike those jabs you take when you baby. there are reasons why pharmaceutical company earn a lot, but they hardly go up, even for hot market like in USA. Pharmaceutical is some insider grey zone that only selected big fish go. If you guys think vaccine will wipe out the pandemic, then maybe creating more market so vaccine business continue to sell longer is more possible.
