Based on comprehensive study by the Joint Mekong Basin Planning committee , the average Capacity Factor for all the Hydro Power Station along the mekong river system range from 40% to 60% ! There are now more than 150 Hydro Power stations at various stages of running ,construction or planning along the poor Mekong, shared with Laos,Cambodia,Vietnam n Thai. ! The Hoover Dam in US runs at 23% and the 3Gorges Dam at 45%. On the other hand Modern Coal fired power station capacity factor run anywhere from 70% to 90%. Well you do the math.

Meant to be Free Cash generated by the Power Plant at full commercial run (2021 onwards my guess) based purely on Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) and available data.

Assuming above formula is correct, we can then plug in the crucial data as follow : IRR = 12%, n = Payback = 8yrs and PV = Project Investment = RM7.6B. These are basically public informations provided by Jaks CEO/CFO and quoted by IBs. The derived number for R = RM1.5299B = Free Cash Flow annually for Hai Duong Power Plant at full commercial run ??? What do you think ?

DK66 and KCChongnz and others with interest in finding DCF for Jaks ! Seeking your opinion if the following formula is technically correct and can be reliably used for forecasting Jaks's Vietnam Power Project Free Cashflow with stated assumptions ?

Scenarios when cash inflows are even for all periods :

NPV = [R ×1 − (1 + i)power-n− PV]/i

In the above formula,
PV = Initial Investment
R is the net cash inflow expected to be received in each period;
i is the required rate of return per period;
n are the number of periods during which the project is expected to operate and generate cash inflows.

If we take i=IRR; NPV = 0
Therefore :

NPV = [R ×1 − (1 + i)power-n− PV]/i = 0

Hence R = PV/ {1 − (1 + i)power-n }/i

Good admonition from i3Value! Certainly hope the dust n noises of the past few days has settled. It has diverted our attention from the goodnews n potential catalyst brought from the kenanga Vietnam visit ie
1 superb growth n development in vietnam for years to come
2demand for energy will be strong n raising for a long long time to come
3 hai duong project is now expected to be 4 to 6 months ahead of skd
4 close to rm300 m will be recognized over the next 5 to 6 qtr from balance of power construction
5 at least rm150m profit will be recognized annually from power project with 30% equity, certainly from 2021 !

Additionally , we heard that evolve mall has more tenants and the pacific start tower is waiting regulatory approval with possibility of handing over between may to june time frame !

If anyone has more potential catalyst that i miss out pls add on. Have a good wk ppl . PTL

I think is a good idea to meet...1st meet @ AGM usually in June. Queries can be consolidated here. We can also witness status of Evolve mall and Pacific star. 2nd meet @ Hai Duong Power Plant site sometime in October (3rd anniversary of construction date ! ) You guys can google map on the site , location is so strategic and well planned . At current pace, at least plant no 1 should be about ready by then.

DK66...concur with u. ICON back of envelope estimates using MFCB shows TP of rm4. Thats assuming Jaks 30% ownership. At 40% is around rm6. If you use AES as comparison which is closest to Jaks as you can get and already in full commercial run for >3yrs. Their extra cash flow appears to be in the US$100M to 140M range (between 2014 to 2016).I think AES only power plant to come on stream in ASIA in 2014/2015 is the Mong Duong 2! This of course is the optimistic view and when the stars are aligned well !!!
