Covid-19 cases continue to be high. But every day life involves risks. At 0.5% mortality rate and 380 deaths, it is even lower than car accidents. Does that mean that cars should be banned, nobody should drive, all transportation should stop? No. Life must go on. But we must never forget to wear masks, sanitize our hands, practice social distancing and contract tracing, and do the best we can so lives can be protected. We do the best with what we are given

Govt to allow nationwide interstate travel from Monday — Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 5): The government has decided to allow movements across states and districts nationwide without the need for police permit except in areas under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the lifting of the restriction will take effect from Monday (Dec 7, 2020).

He said the government also agreed that all vehicles are allowed to carry the number of passengers according to their permitted capacity from Monday.

“Police will also remove roadblocks from Dec 7 but will focus on compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP),” he said in a media conference on the development of Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) here today.

Who will get the Covid vaccine first?

You'll be invited to get a vaccine as soon as it's your turn, probably by letter.

In England, more than 1,000 GP surgeries will act as local vaccination centres, and sports stadiums and conference centres will act as major vaccination hubs.

The first doses are likely to be given via 50 hospital hubs next week, which means healthcare staff and patients will probably be immunised first, followed by care home residents.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says the first vaccines will be administered on Tuesday in Scotland.

Northern Ireland will receive 25,000 doses next week and NHS staff have been told they will be vaccinated on 14 December, although this could be brought forward.

The roll-out of the vaccine in Wales will start in a matter of days.

The NHS is recruiting 30,000 volunteers to help with the rollout, including lifeguards, airline staff and students - who will be trained to give the jabs.

The MHRA also seeks advice from another independent body, the Commission on Human Medicines, before advising the government on a potential vaccine.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the fastest ever to go from concept to reality, taking just 10 months.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca team has now sent all the data on its vaccine to the MHRA for approval, and other vaccine developers will follow.

In the event the UK has a choice, the JCVI would decide which vaccine should be used for different groups of people.
